#1 Post by raczkaat » Fri Sep 23, 2011 8:54 pm

I have no idea the difference in that in Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer. Can someone tell me how to use this?

hi rac*;
not sure if u asking for how to use MS Office & IE OR are you looking for MS OFFICE , IE works in x64-bit.
MS O will run very nicely on x64bit; IE -x64bit works ok however there is no FLASH PLAYER yet for x64bit - but you can surf at most websites with IEx64 - just wont be able to install FLASH in true 64bit. The flash (withx64 IE) only runs in 32 bit....

so if you lookig for true x64 bit OS + Browser etc , i would suggest getting Linux. Look for posts pn this forum , there are lots and lots of pple running diff distro/version of Linux on thinkpads very successfully. T510 should be very very fast on Linux.....
hope this helps

Cheers

If you want to use Windows, I would suggest using 64bit Windows, but 32bit Office/Explorer. The 64bit versions are still not widespread and have some compatibility issues.
Current: X220 4291-4BG, T410 2537-R46, T60 1952-F76, T60 2007-QPG, T42 2373-F7G
Collectibles: T430s (IPS FHD + Classic Keyboard), X32 (IPS Screen)
Retired: X61 7673-V2V, A31p w/ Ultrabay Numpad
Past: Z61t 9440-A23, T60 2623-D3U, X32 2884-M5U

64 bit is what I use... Some issues with java and other software but easily fixed (for example the program is designed to look for program files but not program files (x86)). I prefer 64bit because there's no 4GB limitation of memory and programs like Adobe actually run faster on the 64 bit for me. Also Virtualbox seems to perform better.
