Using a 240 power supply on my X40?

#1 Post by bcmurray » Tue Apr 05, 2005 8:44 pm

Aloha Folks,

Anyone using a 240 power supply on their X40?

240 supply is a yellow tip 16V 4.5A / X40 is a yellow tip 16V 3.5A

Aren't ThinkPad AC adapters generally designed for 100-240V?

Regarding the specs, yes, you can use a 16V/4.5A adapter. Your X40 only draws as many amps as it needs. This shouldn't be problem at all.

It would be problematic if the specs were reversed, i.e. if your AC adapter would only deliver 3.5A and your ThinkPad could draw 4.5.

Sven, That was what I thought. Just wanted a second opinion.
Thanks,
