New T520 cpu fan vibration and always on ?
New T520 cpu fan vibration and always on ?
Hello all,
I just purchased a new T520 and seem to be experiencing some subtle vibration on the bottom side of the keyboard which is seemingly pointing to the cpu fan. It seems to run all the time ...
Is this normal, as i thought it was the HDD but it's not.
Any advice would be great as it's really annoying when just laying with palm near keypad.
Much appreciated
John

If you want to change the speed of the CPU fan I'd recommend TPFanControl, which can be found here.
That will also reveal how hot the CPU is running- if it's abnormally hot or if the BIOS is spinning the drive faster than it needs to go, you will find out.

Ok thx for that tip !
I just brought it in for a checkup as I have 21 days to return as a newly purchased laptop.
Just wanted to make sure nothing was wrong with the fan, if they say nothing is wrong then I will try the tool.
But I've had a t520 in the last year and i never felt this vibration ... just weird as maybe some parts are loose inside.

It would be extremely rare for parts to be loose. It's far more likely that you have a faulty component. I'm sure if that is the case they will find it and replace it for you.jrmtl wrote:Ok thx for that tip !

All checked and nothing wrong with laptop components... I guess it's just my imagination.
Thanks for advice.
