WANTED: x60s with a 1.8ghz L2500 processor
WANTED: x60s with a 1.8ghz L2500 processor
I own an x60s (w/ 1.6ghz L2400 processor) and love it. Would like another, and would love to get a x60s with 1.8ghz L2500 processor. Would prefer no fingerprint reader (don't like 'em/use'me, and like the cleaner look, but I suppose I could live with it). If you got an ultrabase to go with it, and other stuff, I'll go for that too (if not fine). Will probably give you what you want for it.
Could be interested in a x60s tablet (I believe that is only with 1.6ghz L2400 processor) just for fun or something different. Might go for another x60s with 1.6g L2400 processor at the right price (they are more available, but it is always nice to get it from a real ibm'er owner/user/fan and not an auction site reselling 'em in bulk out of a crate and hasn't even worked on it, except to turn it on and run the basic preliminary test, blah, blah, blah). Oh, no fixer-uppers though, partial repairs needed, stuff not working, dead buttons or pixels, etc. Refurbished, well used, scratches & superficial appearance issues is fine though, I'm not a glam guy.
I suppose I might be talked into an x200s at the right price too. (same thing goes for accessories, partial repairs needed, and superficial appearance issues). But I really like the last of the duo core processors/32 bit of the x60s (vs Duo 2/64bit, I'm an XP guy and staying that way, if it has vista or others, I'll probably go linux or back to XP)
Anyway email me.

Re: WANTED: x60s with a 1.8ghz L2500 processor
Oh, and I don't like a cam because I go in and out of a lot of government buildings where they won't let you bring it in with a cam. Another big reason why I am higher on the x60s (last of the non-cams) than the x200s. So I guess forget the x200s unless there is that option, but my recollection is there is not.

I know it's not the exact machine you are posting for, but you might want to check this out:

I have several X6x machines (see model and type in my signature), and I find very little difference between them -- love each and every one. I have purchased from Harryc several times, and each time the machine has matched or surpassed his Marketplace description -- when he lists "mint", in my opinion you won't find a better quality machine

Also FYI X61s don't have cams. X200s usually dont have cams and I think X201s also don't have cams. The X20Xs may actually not have cams as an option on the higher rez screen models. The ones with standard screens perhaps have cameras.

The X200 in my signature has a camera, but I am not the first owner, so I wouldn't know if it was an option or came standard. Guessing theX200s wouldn't have a camera due to weight limitations??

Cam hardware (such as in my T61) weighs less than 20 grams, not a weight consideration IMHO.

Re: WANTED: x60s with a 1.8ghz L2500 processor
Most X200 models came with cameras. Some X200s models had cameras, but any with the high resolution screen used a completely different bezel assembly that didn't leave room for a camera. I believe all X201s models have cameras though.emtee3511 wrote:The X200 in my signature has a camera, but I am not the first owner, so I wouldn't know if it was an option or came standard. Re: WANTED: x60s with a 1.8ghz L2500 processor
emtee3511,
Wow, that is quite a value with the dvdrw ultrabase included, the high end 2.4ghz processor, and the highspeed 7200rpm HD. That was definitely the performance king of the x60-line. I am a sucker for the "s" models though, more so than the performance (which I would not fully utilize). I love the stealthy silence of the "s" models. I had previously two non-ibms which rev'd like Harleys and stalled when overheating and that made me hyper-sensitive to it more than I had before. Even though they were top 5 selling brand names that came nowhere near the performance of the x60s I know have, much less the performance geared x61 for sale. One non-ibm was even a newer release with newer technology *lol*. If you can't tell, I was blown away by my thinkpad. Its quality stuff.
Cunha,
Righto, I hear ya on the x61s not having a cam. I meant to articulate, that the x60-line was the last of the strictly non-cam laptops and the x60s as one of them. You are correct that the x61 and x61s both have no cams and came after the x60s. And the x200-line was the first to incorporate the cams. I was foggy on if it was an option, and wasn't sure. But totally unaware that it was usual or standard in some of the earlier models. Thanks, that makes it a possibility. Although I must say after sampling a 12" wide screen on one of my non-ibms, I preferred the 12" standard screen when I returned to it on the x60s. It is notably better and more spacious for computing. so much so, I assume wide screen would have never taken over the market if not for the DVD movie market. I still wish they would offer standard screen as an option or a specialty line that had standard screens. I'd buy 'em
. . .
By the way, now that it has been a while, what do people think of IBM letting Lenova take over it's laptop line? Is it working out good? I would love it, if the made a sort of lexus line out of thinkpad and a sort of camry line out of lenova, to compete with less expensive/higher number type sales marketing of hp & toshiba. I hope it doesn't merge into a sort of cressida line. Anyway what's people's take on lenova and how they are doing and what's happening?

Re: WANTED: x60s with a 1.8ghz L2500 processor
Oh, occasionally thinkwiki.org is a little off in minor stuff (but mostly on), they say there were x60s tablets made with 1.8ghz L2500 processors. If one of those is around I'd love that. Might be hard to find though, I imagine. But I'd pay you what you want.
{edit: I've never come across one ever though, though I have occasionally come across the odd standard x60s 1.8ghz L2500}
{edit: oh, I keep bloopering, I guess it is called an x60t if it is a tablet, not a x60s tablet as I miscalled it, although they seem to use the same processors etc, as the x60s}
Bob,
OK, I'll go check. Good deal, thanks.

Re: WANTED: x60s with a 1.8ghz L2500 processor
Incidentally, I have a x60s that I can't take to work anymore due to some policy changes (silly and limits my productivity, imo). From what I can remember, I believe the processor is a 1.8GHz Core Duo, 2GB of RAM, 100 or 160GB HDD. The lid is the TMD (ultralight?) screen from a X61s because I did the SXGA+ mod.
The keyboard and palm rest have a bit of shine to it, and everything is structurally sound (no cracks). If you can wait a few days I can get some pictures of it up. Oh yeah, it has an 8 cell battery with ~80 cycles on it, holds pretty close to a full charge if not 100% (will give everything a more thorough inspection).

so this is an x60s with an xga ultralight screen from an x61s not sxga+? are the specs above accurate maybe you can give the model type and how much you want for it.
thanks,
jay
Re: WANTED: x60s with a 1.8ghz L2500 processor
Atreides is right. My X200s with 1440x900 screen does not have camera.
Re: WANTED: x60s with a 1.8ghz L2500 processor
Sorry for the late reply. Here are the specs:
Core Duo L2500 1.83GHz
2GB RAM
Windows is reporting ~150GB, which probably means it's a 160GB drive (Seagate ST9160823AS)
Display is a XGA (1024x768) from a Thinkpad X61s. The type of hinge assembly is the 'TMD' type, which I believe is the ultralight display. It's certainly thinner than the original X60s display which had the 'SPWG' hinges. See the HMM for more information.
Atheros A/B/G/N wireless card
Bluetooth
The type and serial:
1705-CTO LV-A9668
I haven't had any luck retrieving parts or warranty information from Lenovo's new website. It definitely is out of warranty, though. The asking price is $330 shipped.
Thanks!

I still have this one.

Price is highly negotiable. As expected, the stickers in the picture came right off with no residue.
Happy to swap in a hard drive if you prefer.
