X220 Battery sits loose

#1 Post by miraculixx » Sat Oct 01, 2011 5:12 pm

In my newly received X220 the battery sits loose even with latch "1" locked. The 6cell battery is moveable by about 2-3mm just above latch "2". Operated on battery power, when I drag the laptop slightly towards me, this is enough to disconnect power.

Anyone else experienced this? How did Lenovo react?

Yes mine also 'wiggles' about the same. The slice battery underneath seems less secure (securing points) are close to the middle and the outside can flex a bit.

Owning a tablet version I use the extended battery to hold onto in portrait mode and I would like to think that this will not damage the laptop.

I don't mind it wiggles. I do mind the wiggling switches the power off.

it shouldn't be that loose.

like bill suggested, call lenovo.   there's no reason you should have this issue.   i've had three personal X220 systems and a handful of batteries, none of which were ever loose enough to disconnect power when properly installed.
