#1 Post by extremepower » Sun Oct 02, 2011 1:09 am

Hi,
I have this error message below for my machine. Can't get it to boot up. Any idea how to get it boot up?
Where is the miniPCI network card located? Thanks.

ERROR

Welcome to thinkpads.com!

The MiniPCI card is located near the back left corner, under the keyboard. Follow the instructions in the Hardware Maintenance Manual (HMM) to remove and replace it with a factory-approved card (if you do not wish to apply a BIOS hack; see below for more info):

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product ... MIGR-39298 (Main index for all Thinkpad HMMs)

On systems newer than the T23, the BIOS contains a "whitelist" of approved wireless cards. Inserting a card that is not on the approved list will cause the 1802 error to be generated. There is a BIOS hack that can be applied called no-1802. It basically changes the BIOS so that it ignores this check. See a recent thread about it here:

The card rkawakami mentioned is the ethernet card, leave that, it should be OK.
Your problem is the wifi card, located near the front of the laptop, under the keyboard bezel/palmrest.
Use the above mentioned HMM.
