W520 form factor
W520 form factor
I am looking into either a W520 or a T520, and was wondering which models are 1.2" thick and which are 1.4" thick.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: W520 form factor
They both have the same dimensions.
The T520 and W520 are identical save for the system board and name plate. Actually, the T510 and W510 are also physically identical models to these save for the Lenovo logo (they recycled everything else).
You can think of a W520 as, essentially, a T520p- as the T60 and T60p of ages past shared the same case (with a common screen size) but they had different internal parts.
And they're both 1.2" thick when closed.

Just say no to the ThinkBook Pro.

Re: W520 form factor
Thank you so much for the reply!
I currently have a T61p and from the pictures the W520 and the T520 look so much thicker than the T61p. I am glad that in actuality they aren't.

Re: W520 form factor
Hi, are you positive about W520 and T520 having the same height ?
I ask because I intend to buy one of these as well.
However, I have both a R61 and a T61, and although they do share a lot, they are NOT the same height...
R61 can take 12mm Ultrabay, whereas T61 only 9.5mm
This has allowed me to use Blu-ray burner and 1.5 gig hard disks in the R61, which the T61 could not fit...
Any more solid information regarding the ultrabay height of the T520 and W520 will be much appreciated

Re: W520 form factor
The W520 and T520 share the same external dimension. W series was the p version of the T series, and not really a new model in itself.
Also, the new T series and W series all have the same Ultrabay enhanced 12.7 mm drive slot.
