Hi guys, i am a new member at this forum, nice to meet all of u. :D

I recently got a T21 as a gift from a buddy of mine.
It was a P3 800Mhz with 256Mb ram and 60Gb 5400 HD.

Reading from post's on this forum i got myself from e-bay a 1Ghz cpu and a T22 fan, and a 256Mb sodimm to upgrade to maximum spec.
I realy am impressed with this little laptop.

Next i would get a Ultrabay 2000 SATA 2nd hd caddy for it, but before i buy a HD for it what is the maximum size hd the T21 can handle?
I already flashed to the latest BIOS 1.16.

Thanks in advance.

I know it will do 320 gigs. After that I suspect you could partition the drive, and keep right on going.

As long as the SATA HD is 2.5" wide and no thicker than 9.5mm, any capacity within these limits will fit.

There are two SATA Ultrabay 2000 trays, one costs twice as much (over $40) and the only report here mentioned poor fitment.

The other has a plastic bottom with a cutout, and the HDD is secured with a couple of screws from the bottom. It costs about half, and several reports here including my experience are favorable.

When i get a chance, i'll post the ebay item or the thinkpads forum thread on this subject. It's right here in the T2x, T3x section.

Here is the link to the Ultrabay SATA discussion:

I have a WDC 500GB scorpio blue in mine (5400RPM). I can easily use to transfer with my Wife's T61. Or course I also dedicated an old Seagate 80GB for that task as well, but this one will hold more stuff!

The less expensive one with the plastic bottm seems to be the better buy.

Working good for me, but Ray seems to have extracted the most benefit out of this winning, innovative item.

Some of my ancestors are from Snits.
I spent many a summer sailing the Friesian lakes, one of the ships I vacationed on was the "Henriette", a converted freighter (platbodem), based in Grouw.
