power adapter X120e

I am considering to buy a brand new X120e on Ebay. Shipped from US.
I don't really like the X121e sold here.

What I will need to use it in Italy (here we have 220 input)?
Can I plug in to the AC adapter a cable from my old T41p, in place of the one I will receive?

You can not use the T41p AC adapter, however, all Lenovo adapters are global and can be used around the world with the appropriate power cord or plug adapter. You will be able to use the AC charger included with the X120e.

On my travels to Italy, I simply used a plug adapter for Europe.

Depending on the AC power adapter you have, you may be able to use the high voltage cord (if it's removable, and has the same end) on the new adapter.

I have done this with the adapters for my X40 and my X120e/T400s. The high voltage cable uses a 2 prong standard end that connects to the adapter brick.

uhm.. here in Italy we have a 3 prong cable like this connected to the adapter brick of the Thinkpad (sorry for the very long link)
so, if in the US is 2 prong I will need a different solution

Ah okay, so your's actually has a grounding plug. The US/Canadian ones have a 2 prong, groundless cord. The adapter is also groundless.

I can't find a picture of it, but I can tell you it's a different end than what you linked to.

The only other option, would be to purchase a separate adapter from elsewhere and sell the one you receive with the new notebook. It's a common 20v adapter, and most people here I'm sure would have a use for it.

Your 3 pin cable uses a C5 connector. All you need is a cable with a C7 connector, which is 2 pins. They are very easy to find, and very cheap. You might already have one somewhere in your house... I use this kind of cable for my laptop psu, my camera battery charger, my printer, my scanner, and my external dvd drive and many more devices. These cables are virtually everywhere. Lots of electronic devices use them.

Look at the C5 and C7 connectors on the wikipedia article for IEC_60320.

Your adapter is 16V. Newer thinkpads use 19V. The country difference is not an issue - your adapter is just too old.

Any adapter for a T60/X60 or newer should work fine with the right power cord or plug adapter.
