T400 - problems with fingerprint and gsm modem.
T400 - problems with fingerprint and gsm modem.
At first I wanted to say hello to all forum members:) I just became an owner of t400 but I have some problems.I have instaled Windows 7 Enterprise and I have problems with fingerprint device. It was not recognized by system and when I installed software from lenovo it was showing me message that it can not connect with device. What can be the problem? Second thing is that I found out that under battery I have slot for sim card with pins etc. but it is not being shown by os too;/ Was there only one model of these modems used by lenovo? Are there any drivers? Thanks for any help and aswers:)
Re: T400 - problems with fingerprint and gsm modem.
Welcome to the Forum!
The T400 with standard Lenovo BIOS accepts only the following two Lenovo-branded WWAN cards:
Qualcomm Gobi 1000 (FRU #42T0961) and Ericsson F3507g (FRU #43Y6537). The drivers are on Lenovo's site.
If you install a modified BIOS, then you may use any GSM miniPCIe WWAN card.
[Note: You may need also to tape Pin-20 on the card.]
The modified BIOSs are available here:
http://www.theboardroom.info/bios/zender-bios.html
You might find the Hardware Maintenance Manual (HMM) useful:

Re: T400 - problems with fingerprint and gsm modem.
OK problem with fingerprint was that it was disabled in bios:) so it's working now. But gsm modem is still not working. In device manager it should be in modems section right? It is showing me HDA CX20561 Soft Modem, what does it mean? Honestly I didnt even know that my thinkpad will have this modem but while it's there I would love to use it. Any idea how can I check it?I installed drivers from lenovo page but it didnt changed anything.
edit: is this possible that physically I have this modem but it will not be working? for instant it's blocked somehow?

Re: T400 - problems with fingerprint and gsm modem.
No, it is not "blocked" in any way. The most likely situation is that the WWAN card is not installed in your T400. The SIM card slot would be there no matter what -- whether or not the WWAN card is installed -- and the presence of the SIM card slot does NOT imply that a WWAN modem is present in the machine. Use the HMM to see how to access the slot where the WWAN modem should be, and see if a modem is installed in that slot.fid wrote:edit: is this possible that physically I have this modem but it will not be working? for instant it's blocked somehow?
Re: T400 - problems with fingerprint and gsm modem.
Hi there, my T400 was exactly the same. i bought the ericsson card and installed it ( the antenna wires were already there) and everything is working perfectly. I am led to believe that the GOBI gives a better signal.fid wrote:edit: is this possible that physically I have this modem but it will not be working? for instant it's blocked somehow?
TP 380Z (2635-JGU), TP 240 (2609-21G), TP 240X (2609-62G), TP X61t (7762-B6G), TP 770 (9548-30U), TP770ED (9549-5AU), TP 770X (9549-720), TP 701C (2630-TF4), TP Z61P (0674-KSG), TP 750 (9545), Transnote (2675)

Re: T400 - problems with fingerprint and gsm modem.
I consider your T400 has no WWAN CARD installed. It might be the WWAN CARD UPGRADEABLE option! Inside your laptop, there is only 2 antenna which color is red and blue. I think in the situation you should uninstall your palm rest and keyboard to confirm that your laptop has already installed the WWAN CARD.fid wrote:OK problem with fingerprint was that it was disabled in bios:) so it's working now.
