X40 hangs on startup - intermittently

#1 Post by mehl » Wed Apr 06, 2005 7:24 pm

Hello --

This happens after the Win default screen background appears ... the startup process stops. It does not happen on each startup.

Power off, then restart, and it starts normally.

Does anyone have any ideas about what is causing this?

Thanks for any help.

Next time it happens, try Control-Alt-Delete, and click logoff, then logon again.

I have seen this happen many times, and in my case, it was related to the XP automatic updates installation system.

Try to check services starting in front of the Windows GUI, like firewall, AV resident shield etc.
Let's go'n'restart :-)
