what is strange - this thermopad is very fat, ive never seen smilar.

May be its not a thermpoad?

That is definitely not a thermopad as used by IBM/Lenovo.
Looks more like compressed spinach!
Usually the correct pad is no more than 2-3mm thick.
Replace the pad, or rather, the whole unit.
At some time in the past, a previous owner must have had heat problems.

Heatsinks are readily available on eBay.

Although your original fan was the M9 long fan, either M10 (T42/p) or M24 (T43/p) will work even better.

FRU for M10 which would be my preference is 13R2657.

Good luck.

That's just the way IBM referenced these fans, nothing more.

M10 has better cooling properties than the M9, that's about it.

thanks for information.

Please link any auction which is good and proper for my t40p.

What should I do with this thermopad? Is it is normally mounted in new fans?

Being that you're in Poland, this would likely work:

http://www.ebay.de/itm/Ersatzteil-Lenov ... 5ae320556a

A bit on the expensive side, but looks to be genuine...no clue on whether it is, though...

More from the British eBay here:

Good luck.
