I have a T61 running XP Pro SP3 and CSS 8.21, I'm the only user thus have an 'Administrator' user account.
After turning on my T61 I get the typical Windows log-in menu. I'm able to scan my finger to log-in, however that's about it.
When I attempt to open CSS I receive the "CSS Verify Identity" screen where "User Key Recovery" is shown for [Reason for Authentication] and
"Owner" is shown for [User Name]; For [Enter Your Password] i enter the same admin password associated to my Administrator user account and what is stored in Password Manager. No joy. (Again, I'm able to finger swipe at log-in)
When I enter my Administrator password i receive the following CSS message: "Authorization Failed...Do you wish to try again?". I do however keep receiving the same message.
Add'l Info;
1. Never had problem like this with CSS or Password Manager in the 2years I owned my TP
2. Password Manager stopped pre-filling my stored [user name] and [password] (e.g. my online bank, online credit card co. email, Ebay, etc)
3. I'm not able to go into Password Manager since I get the same User Authentication screen requesting my password.
4. I went into Bios and cleared the embedded security chip (no change)
5. I removed CSS and re-installed it (no change)
I like using CSS and password manager. Is there a way I can restore CSS to factory settings because nothing I do seems to work? I'm not sure if all my stored passwords are now gone or not because I'm still able to swipe my finger at Windows log-in and it works. So somehow CSS & PW still works at log-in. But if i lost all my other passwords then so be it. I'll set them back up however at present, I have no access to CSS or PM to start over with.
I would really appreciate your feedback and will try all recommendations and potential solutions. Many thanks in advance! Cheers.
