Re: Can I get a 3rd party internal DVD burner for a T500?
Yeah, that's it - I'm looking to replace the internal drive. I realize the Lenovos have a bevelled edge, but could probably look past it if the price was right. My concern would be that I'd buy a drive from someplace and it would still be too tall. Hence my wondering if the Lenovo DVD burner drives ...

Can I get a 3rd party internal DVD burner for a T500?
I recently bought a refurb T500 which came with only a CD burner. Is it possible to get a DVD burner from someplace like Newegg or is my only option to get it straight from Lenovo? Slim SATA burners look like they run ~40-50 bucks, but they're way more at Lenovo's site. Does the T500 use a proprieta...

T60p and external lenovo enhanced USB keyboard - volume ctrl
I have a T60p with WinXP , with a Lenovo Enhanced Performance keyboard attached via USB (the one with all the media keys, etc.). Is there a way to sync the volume and mute controls for both the thinkpad keyboard and the external keyboard? It seems that when the external keyboard is plugged in, the l...

I don't know if you found a fix for this, but I think I experience the same thing, or at least the symptom that the guy that gave it to you described. 9 times out of 10, I can put a CD or DVD into my T60p, and Windows does not recognize it. It spins up, the D drive shows as normal in Windows (but ne...

T60p DVD drive doens't read until reboot
I've got a T60p with all current firmware, drivers, etc., running WinXP. This has happened a handful of times on this notebook, and I think it happened before on an older Thinkpad: I'll pop a CD or DVD in, and the disc just won't be read. Nothing ever shows up in Windows Explorer, it's just like the...

I installed the newest BIOS that has a date of 8-23-2007 and it seems to have fixed the flicker when I take the unit off AC. Do you run dual monitors while off AC power? I've never had a problem with it flickering while just using the laptop as-is, only when I try and use a second monitor connected...

Re: Flickering?!
Did anyone ever figure this out? It has been 9 months and the only thing I am doing as a work-around is to put the laptop to sleep (Fn-F4) and then awakening it -- this is, of course, after hooking the laptop up to my dual monitors (external) and not using the laptop LCD. This makes the flickering ...

Screen definitely still flickering for me after the update. I really wish they'd fix this - it's been a problem for over a year now. Maybe we all need to start a petition, or bombard their tech support with the same issue - instead of praying that one day they'd just care enough to fix it on their ...

Re: Flashing Screen
I've had a similar problem with external screen flashing. No dropping down to a lower resolution, though, it would just go blank for a second or three, and then come back. My screen's connected to an Advanced Mini Dock, using DVI. I flashed the new bios (works really nicely, different from my old T...

Does this fix the "flashing" screen problem? What do you mean? Do you mean as referring to this post? http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=40822&highlight=violently If so then I guess no, my solution in that post was as I replaced the new recall Panasonic battery, the problem's solved  ...

video drivers under vmware?
Has anyone happened to run a win2000 install under vmware on their T60p? I've got win2k installed, but the resolution is set at 640x480, which makes working on it a bear. It says it will go up to 800x600, but when I select it it doesn't let it stick; it just reverts back to 640x480. I'm wondering if...

SUggestions for getting a second AC adapter?
I'd like to get another AC adapter for my T60, and I see them on Lenovos site for about 60 bucks. It seems like they can be found on eBay for about 30....are the ones on ebay legit? They look the same as my current one from the pictures.... Are there any good places to get power adapters (or even an...

How do you mean you won't have all of the XP discs? You said something about purchasing a copy of XP Pro.... Anyway, if you have the XP Pro disc....you should be able to put in your new hard drive, put the XP Pro disc in the CD drive, and boot off of that. It should then prompt you and walk you thro...

zern, I did exactly as you suggested. My settings were already unchecked and "Never", but I toggled them anyway just to be sure. I installed the latest video driver over the current. I still see the flicker. Same here. I'm pretty sure I tried all the suggestions I've found, to no avail. But I thoug...

I seem to have fixed this on my T60p. The flicker used to happen on an external CRT only (but not on the built-inLCD). Every 10-15 minutes or so. I re-installed the Lenovo ATI drivers for the FireGL V5250 - the same version as what came preinstalled. And so far (2 hrs in) not a single flicker. The ...

Are there any issues in downgrading from 2.09 to 1.09? Is the only real solution then to send the laptop back and get a replacement? Or is that not even an option? Does IBM recognize it as a problem and will they send a replacement laptop? Ideally, it'd be nice if they'd send a new laptop that I cou...

T60p screen flash/flicker
I just got a new T60p (non-widescreen) at work, and this week I've been getting it set up. They didn't wipe the drive clean before they gave it to me, so it's got a lot of the ThinkVantage stuff still on it. I've got an external LCD monitor connected to it as a secondary display, and am extending my...
