Re: T60p sluggish with Win 10. Any solution
I think I got confused with T60 but could still be a driver issue with the graphics. I don't believe there is a native W10 driver for the V5200 either. There's a report on microsoft support about installing X1600 W7 drivers for V5200 https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-hard...

Re: T60p sluggish with Win 10. Any solution
T60p has 2 possible graphics chips. The intel chip should run as well as it ever did with the basic driver. There is no W10 driver for the ATI X1300. The W7 driver might work if installed in compatibility mode. The good news is it's unlikely to be broken down hardware as W7 works. Intel integrated ...

Re: T60p sluggish with Win 10. Any solution
The issue I have with going back to Win 7 is that I have it on a DVD with one of the first releases of the OS and once the install is complete, and when I try to do Windows Update, I dont get any update, just an error message. I really thought that I would atleast get the updates that MS gave till ...

Re: T60p sluggish with Win 10. Any solution
Thanks for the tip. I searched for LTSC but there's a cost involved but thats ok I can spend some money but whats the guarantee that it will run anywhere closer to Win 7. I really dont use modern apps or the MS store and not gaming, just word and browsing. There's no guarantee. You're running a 15-...

If all else fails, how about getting a T520i, and upgrade it with a W520 mobo and whatever else? Nah. I'm not putting any time into that system apart from possibly installing the SSD/OS and upgrading the RAM. Very lazy I've gotten over the past year... Thanks for the links nevertheless... :thumbs-UP:

You need a modded BIOS for this type of an upgrade AFAIK.

WTB: W520/W530 (read the post for conditions on the latter)
Looking to purchase a fully working W520 for a family member. A HDD/SSD is not a requirement, but the monster power supply is since I don't have one. Decent physical condition and LCD with no major flaws are a must. I'm flexible when it comes to the CPU/GPU, RAM etc. I would be open to a W530 that h...

By the way ajkula66, A friend of mine has offered me a X200 for sale; What is your opinion of X200s that you abuse daily? I love mine. Light machine with a spectacular - for its age - battery life. Still an ideal "on the go" system for my needs. X200 will most likely give you a webcam - which my "s...

1)There's other options. You could try *BSD if you want to do more manual configuration or ChromeOS(cloudready) if you want to do none. There are always other options... :D 2)Can't enjoy the constant Windows updates. Who knows what will break next? If you want to elevate your blood pressure, having...

Re: TRUE old tech users, using today
Unfortunately I think you should thank Apple for that. They shatter records in price tags that now if there is a US$829 smartphone it's considered budget friendly. That's fine, I can hang onto my Blackberry Classic for another few years...especially if I buy another one as a backup...not necessaril...

By now you've probably solved your phone-with-a-physical keyboard search problem, but I thought I'd chime in on this thread regardless. Actually no, I haven't. Still waiting to see what the next tide brings along. This Pro1-X will be more or less version 2 of the phone from the relatively new compa...

Re: My 6 weeks of trying Linux Distibutions
I had a job where I had to drive a lot, often in unfamiliar places, where I would go to only once. I ended up buying a separate 7" tablet strictly for navigation (Google Maps). It was the only thing I had any Google services on, and it did not have any of my personal information, contacts, or anyth...

Re: R50e Upgrades
this is a mess. It doesn't have to be. A couple of things here: a) The info on Intel's site is incorrect. This has been discussed many a times over the past few years. b) R50e will have problem running XP3 without major lag, let alone W8. The platform is more than 15 years old and no amount of hard...

So back to the CPU upgrades, I can source two T8300's for £11 (~$15) each, and if I go with them is there anything to look out for with the installs? I would take this route. And If I were to go with T9300's which I get at almost twice the price, (which is still ridiculously cheap compared to my de...

The one that seems pretty common is the 39T0765. One ebay seller claims that works with the T42. Photo shows three posts.

T7700/7800 will run hot as hell in that machine.
Middleton's modded BIOS, a T8100/8300 and the world is your oyster especially for the fact that this will also enable your SSD to run at SATA II speeds along with a few other goodies.
