Re: A new G40

Do the G series use different Pentium 4s than desktops? Could a Hyperthreading Pentium 4 be used in a G? Or Pentium Dual Core? G series use desktop CPUs to begin with, and higher-end G41 models were offered with HT processors going up to 3.8Ghz I believe, although I've never personally owned anythi...

Re: W10: FIX for Lenovo Power Manager

I suspect Win10 modified things so it can "phone home" whenever it wants to, even though the computer user may very intentionally want the machine to be in extreme power-saving mode. I would not be surprised if this were the case. At all. With that being said, I am somewhat surprised that someone w...

Hello all thinkpaders! Welcome to the forum! Thank you all in advance. It's not going to work "out of the box"....

Can you tell me how to buy this incredible t50?

I can't.

The one reviewed here belongs to a forum member and is not for sale. Mine died a couple of years ago and I wasn't able to obtain a replacement board.

You'll need someone in mainland China to locate the board for you.

Good luck.

Re: AC-DC supply voltage limit

IBM Thinkpad AC-DC supply has an output of 15,6V according to the imprint. It's actually 16V given what's written on the adapter itself. Most Laptops AC-DC converters deliver 19V. Does the T4x or more precise the T41 electronic can handle a 19V DC input? Does anybody accidentially plugged in 19V DC...

This is actually an Intel chipset limitation and will apply to any other computer using this chipset. My sister's Acer Aspire model from 2006 has the same chipset, and it can only use 3GB of the 4GB installed. I'm fairly certain that you're referring to the chipset seen in T60, but OP's system is a...

Re: New and very puzzled with x230 tablet

You can most definitely take notes as well as install W10 on X230T. No clue about Android.

As for the WWAN card, it's going to be a "trial and error" experience. I'd presume that the BIOS will bark at it, but you won't know until you actually try it.

Good luck.

Re: T61f - not charging battery

Most likely a damaged charging circuit, probably a blown fuse on the motherboard. These can be tested if you have a multimeter, somewhat of a pain to replace, most people just solder a new fuse over the old one "piggy back" style.

Good luck.

Re: Can a damaged CPU cause the 1-3-3-1 beep error?

I should throw out the first motherboard if it's a CPU killer. In my experience, a bad CPU usually prevents the system from starting altogether. I did have one occasion where the machine would start booting and then go into BSOD. However, I've never ran into the set of circumstances that you're des...

I've never bothered with "official" Lenovo drivers for these systems, go to nVidia's site, choose what you need and download it. Haven't been there recently since what I've been using for a while (332.76) is working fine and I felt no need to update it.

Obviously, YMMV.

Sooner the better, and remove the dead battery altogether now since running with one for an extended period of time may blow your charging circuit.

What sort of work could it do which a T41 couldn't? It was simply more expandable, given its two bays as opposed to one on a T4x. PSREF will do you little good with a CTO system. R40 came in two basic flavours: Pentium 4M and Pentium M. All you have to do is boot it into BIOS and see what CPU it sports. Graphic cards were ATi Radeon 7500s of varying VRAM size, but they all share the same driver. Wireless cards were Intel 2100B...
