Wait so you cannot use a screen from a 14.1" A3x on a T30 and vice versa?
That is my understanding.

Awaiting arrival of an SXGA cable & inverter to continue the project.
I'm reasonably certain that all T30 panels were proprietary for that model and not interchangeable with what was found in T2x. You may want to compare the pinouts before actually installing the screen.

Good luck.

Well, I'm not driving up to NY / NJ anytime soon. The state storm troopers will probably arrest me at the border anyway, my being from FL and all.

Re: What keyboard P/N do I need?

How can you tell which keyboard the original is? I need to replace one for a T42. It doesn't matter at this point, since pretty much all new 15" keyboards for T4x that I've seen over the past 5 years or so were ALPS. There's a section in the HMM which specifically deals with keyboard FRUs, includin...

So you need a keyboard with 3 posts as opposed to ones with 4 posts used on 14" models. You may want to put that bit of info in your thread title.

Happy hunting.

Re: Wanted: T42 Replacement Keyboard

The keyboards are different between the 14" and 15" models on T4x/R5x.

Given the keyboard FRU, it seems like your T42 is a 15" but could you please verify the 7-character model number on the bottom of the machine? It should look something along the lines of 2373-A1B...

Re: T42 9000/9600 Gfx

Nice I get a huge list of Thinkpads with the 2373 number, most T40 and T41 have Radeon 9000 Yikes this is a really long list The T42 mostly has the Radeon 7500 not too many have Radeon 9000 Only the earliest hi-end T42s were shipped with 9000, most of them - as well as T40 and T41 - had 7500. Wow, that is pretty bad, but could you solder a Radeon 9000/9600 on a T42 that has a Radeon 7500? You'd need a re-balling station to begin with. Most of us don't have access to one. Still waiting on the verdict of FireGL T2. And how well that works on Windows 98 with DOS games and software No clue ...

How does the MTM pull up the original specs using the Product ID? And how accurate is that, or has it been wrong ever before? It's very accurate, having been complied from the old IBM/Lenovo database. Nothing in this world comes with a 100% accuracy guarantee, but MTM link is as good as it gets. Wh...

You can look in the BIOS and the serial will begin with 237314Ublablahblah No need for an OS or even a hard drive, the answer will be right there, just run it against the link. MTM has been around forever, almost every sub-model has one assigned. The link provides you with the specs that the machine...

Welcome to the forum! A lot of T42 units sported the 9600, while some early ones had 9000. There are way too many models and applicable configurations for them to be listed here. Ask the seller for the 7-character code on the bottom of the laptop - it should look something like 2373-14U - and then r...

I've never traveled "light" Year long deployments to the sand box means you take it if you think you will need it. A Fleetwood for long drives means you can fit it in the trunk. You can fit anything and everything in that trunk...no wonder mobsters loved them... Forum remark: (incl. any body )
