Re: Thinkpadders Rejoice (*LARGE PICS*)
That doesn't sound plausible. It wouldn't have taken two plus years to bring the old keyboard keyboard back for a chance of profit. Merely adding back the old keyboard and charging a 300 bonus for a modified palmrest and a keyboard which they need to keep producing anyways because corporate custome...

Re: Thinkpadders Rejoice (*LARGE PICS*)
@ajkula66, this project doesn´t exist because of complaints. It exists because our friend Jin Li aka lead_org personally convinced David Hill at CES 2015 to pursue this idea and then he convinced the Thinkpad product management people that they should at least give it a try with the initial blog an...

Do all the T4x series use IDE disks? Yes. And is there any possibility, apart from an ultrabay adapter, of connecting up Sata disks using something like this adapter:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-5-Male-44pin-IDE-To-22-Pin-Female-SATA-HDD-SSD-Adapter-Converter-For-laptop-/131519261178?epid=50577355...

All your complains is totally useless. Had we not been complaining - loudly - all over Internet, there would've never been another ThinkPad with a 7-row keyboard. Now, that's a double-edged sword...read on. You can have impact. Buy the product. Make it a success. Then we can hope for 7 row option o...

If you're using a conventional spinning drive, that may be a source of the noise.
Inverters can also produce buzzing.
Can you pinpoint the location that the noise is coming from?

Re: Got myself a ThinkPad 600E with broken hinges, can I repair old hinges instead of buying new ones?
You'll have to replace the hinges, there's nothing else to be tried. I'm reasonably certain that if you post a WTB (want to buy) ad in the forum's Marketplace someone will come to the rescue, and most sellers around here are quite accommodating when it comes to various payment methods. Wishing you t...

Yesterday was my first father's day without a father. He passed back in January. To anyone who can, tell your dad you love him and at some point try to do something nice with him. It's good to see you back - even for a split second - and under less-than-optimal circumstances. My condolences. This p...

I've never done that particular swap myself, but others have. These are fine panels, as close as you can get to IPS with a TN screen of that size and format IMO.

CCFL.
Replace the bulb if you're up for it, or the entire panel.

When you get to BIOS page (by pressing F1 on boot) you'll see the Embedded Controller version listed there.

I've never had an issue with any of the systems from this era not recognizing certain hard drives.
Silly question: are you using a proper caddy, securing the drive with all four screws as well as with the HD cover?

What's the best thinkpad or best laptop with a serial port. Company I consult with has lots of RS-232 equipment and the prolific usb serial sometimes doesn't work with some devices (though I may have been shipped a clone of a prolific chip from amazon). You should be able to find a fairly recent To...

Re: Options for replacing a 15 inch T60 Motherboard
You need a motherboard from a 14" (4:3) T61/p. No widescreen planars - be it from 14" or 15.4" - will fit. There are way too many FRUs involved for anyone to attempt listing them.
Search the info on FrankenPads around here, there are hundreds of posts discussing this very topic.

Re: T60 will not switch on.
It might fit, but that's not the point. The original motherboard (41W1362) in my T60 had a PCIe slot behind the audio sockets. The replacement I got (42T0116) did not, so I couldn't use it. FYI: all 4:3 T60/p planars have the mini PCIe slot (the one that is used for the wireless card) in the same s...

T43 sports a different BIOS than the rest of T4x series, and there are two different versions for ATi and Intel-based models. The last one is 1.29

Re: Recycle Bin R500 (MTM 2714CTO)
Welcome to the forum! My question is should I leave well enough alone or swap the motherboard for the ATI Radeon HD 3470 one, p/n 42W7983 or p/n 42W8108? I know I'd need the HSF p/n 44C0800 as well. I'm also considering trading it, minus the SSD, for a T500 in good working order without its HDD. I'd...

ooops... thay they are NOT all the same. How's that? The only difference between a standard (4:3) 14" and 15" models is that the latter requires an interposer card, but that's not a part of a motherboard and you already have it on your machine. You'd need a different heatsink for an ATi-powered boa...

Q3U was the second unit from the top down - Q5U being *the" top dog - from all of the A31 range. The only difference between the two was an integrated wireless card, which the Q3U missed. The rest of the stuff - IPS SXGA+ panel, 32MB VRAM version of ATi 7500 - was the same. If you've swapped the lid...

As long as it's not from a widescreen (15.4") model, any T60/p board will fit.
