Re: Has anyone tried an SSD in the X41? *PICS*

Thanks for your reply. I downloaded Eraser, but unfortunately the user interface has totally changed, and it doesn't seem like I can enter any of the options you have suggested. I tried running AS-Clean after consolidating free space, but this has had no effect. I believe that this should work simil...

Re: Has anyone tried an SSD in the X41? *PICS*

I've had a Kingspec SSD in my X40 for about a year now, and thought I'd share my experiences. I don't use the X40 much, it's mainly for when I travel. A few months ago I started the X40, but there wasn't enough power in the battery, so it died half way through booting. The result was that I lost the...

Re: which 8 cells battery for 41 ?

I bought one of the batteries from HK/China. It is junk. Couldn't get my money back. Avoid eBay seller called "pokerbridge". The name should have been a warning to me... I took the gamble and lost!

Re: Has anyone tried an SSD in the X41? *PICS*

Try googling "ntldr" and you will see that this is a common problem with a fairly easy solution. To update drivers, use an ethernet cable to plug into the internet. Make sure you have Windows Update enabled. Neither of these problems has anything to do with the SSD.

Re: formating Battery

Does anyone know if the Battery Maximiser software works under Windows 7? Or if there is anything similar?

Re: Has anyone tried an SSD in the X41? *PICS*

Now I think I'm going to get an SSD. The KingSpec (32GB) looks like the most economical, but I'm kind of wary of the stuttering issues. I would like to see a newer revision, presumably with the new JMicron controller, but I wonder if that is going to happen. Even if it does happen, how much will it...

Re: Has anyone tried an SSD in the X41? *PICS*

It would be great if someone who speaks Chinese could get in touch with Kingspec and find out if there is a tool similar to wiper.exe that we can use to restore performance. I emailed them in English but they misunderstood my questions.

Re: Windows 7 on x40, any one?

Just keep the internet connected then reboot a few times. Thanks for your suggestion, however I am now connected to the internet via wifi and have rebooted many times. When I try to get Windows to update the driver, it very quickly returns a message saying it can't find any. EDIT: I just realised I...

Re: Windows 7 on x40, any one?

I installed W7 without being connected to the internet. I had no idea that it would make any difference. Now after manually installing wifi, Windows says it can't find any drivers on the internet. I wish I knew about this before.

Re: Windows 7 on x40, any one?

I'd like to thank el31415 for the instructions. I tried it, however it didn't work well for me. I restarted about 20 times, each time the X40 would start up telling me it was installing the drivers. Sometimes it would say it was successful, other times, failure. Then when I restarted it would go thr...

Re: 1.8 SSD for X4 series

The boot error happens on the X41. There's no boot error on the X40. I just installed a Kingspec 32GB on my X40 and it works flawlessly.

Re: Kingspec ssd users? (Pic Warning)

Hi, I just received a Kingspec 32GB and it seems to work perfectly. Like everyone else has said, it's an excellent upgrade. I got mine from a seller called "hallingstores" who are in Hong Kong. Shipping took about two weeks to Australia, which is a bit slower than usual. Seems like they waited a few...

Kingspec SSD's have TRIM support? Seems unlikely to me.

Re: Has anyone tried an SSD in the X41? *PICS*

I just recently bought an X40 and after reading this thread I decided to order a Kingspec SSD. Of those people who have been using a Kingspec for some months, has there been any noticeable degradations in performance? What utilities are available to clean deleted data to return the drive to peak per...
