Re: Comparing the G41 and G50
What I found nuts about the G4x series was that it never had a docking port! You had the desktop replacement, but couldn't get the full suite from T4x or A3x machines. Arguably those with the advanced dock that had GPU support, would surpass the G4x machines. Yes I tried gaming on a G40 and G41. Tha...

Re: Lenovo finally did it, virtually zero contrast display
I think it would be a fancy decorative piece.
Not necessarily the laptop would be useful, but the display itself in other iterations can be much more.
I feel it's a show off piece, proof of concept. Not much more.
Like the 755CV/CDV, wonder if it will be useful with the sunlight as it's backlight.

Re: What to do with R61 machines?
When I was doing price research on ThinkPads, some R series machines go higher than similar T Series. For me, I liked the 14" widescreen R61! They were similar looking to the T61, they didn't have a funky oversized bottom cover like the R5x. I loved the typing feel of the R61, its been a long time s...

Re: Can't install Windows XP
I had thought that XP wasn't able to be booted from a USB?
Whenever I tried installing XP black edition, it would always freak out with Rufus upon boot.
I gave up and just burned a darn DVD...multiple times because I seem to scratch each disc after the 2nd or 3rd install.

Thank you.
My Dell Precision 7730 has it's hiccups, but I was looking to get a P1/X1E for it's centered keyboard and screen.
Mostly want it for photoshop, as video rendering is done with the behemoth.
I'll read up on your issues, but missing that centered keyboard and "thinness".

Hows the P1G5 vs the P52? ive yet to make the leap from P50, T460p to something newer.
X1C3 was the "newest" Ultrabook ThinkPad I've came across, but I do like the HP Zbook 15 G4 Studio "ultrabook workstation".
So I wonder what other's think of their machines.

Re: Windows 11 detects wrong TrackPad model (because i've installed the wrong one ;) )
I had owned a T431s? or maybe a T440p and had a similar problem. It was never able to figure out two finger scrolling, It would keep on messing up. I wouldn't have the correct thinkPad middle scroll, I would get the busted windows one, which would keep on scrolling despite being done with the input....

I have a feeling that most of these sites are just drop shippers, and then probably find out their source for supplies is also a drop shipper and their source is gone. Re: Thinkpads-filter/MTM for legacy Thinkpads
I had tried to make an MTM sort of spreadsheet, so I could find specific ThinkPads on ebay (5:4 770, UXGA T4x, SXGA+ T2x/T30, etc), but it took too much time. Etryu's page is pretty nice, but it is missing some things. I went into a rabbit hole for that and it became too much to do... However with t...

I had snagged a ThinkPad 700 in OK condition a few years back and about 3 months ago I went to go open the laptop up to see its keyboard... *CRUNCH* The plastics around the hinge broke. Perhaps it's because it's in a garage that needs a new roof done and so it might haven gotten damp in that r...

Yeet!
I wonder if the BIOS has an option to turn on when receiving AC power as well.
It's my current stopgap I have for the Dell I'm using.

Hello and welcome to the forum!
I have come across 701C.org which has a process of removing the IBM lid finish and applying a fresh coat.
There's also a process on recelling the 701c battery, but I'm not sure if the 360 ones use the same type.

Re: has anyone upgraded the speakers in their t430?
I would say it is a lost cause. The Dolby drivers should help a bit, but I ended up just hearing a difference in the loudness between one speaker side and the other. Still the sound was nothing in comparison to a machine with a nicer integrated system. I was blown away (for a laptop) by the Zbook 15...

Would anyone know the sSpecs for these CPUs? I don't think I have a PIII-M machine, so I'm not sure how the CPUs even look like. Does a 1.2Ghz look like this? Also looking at a few online chip wiki sites, it seems they'll have socket 479 CPUs instead of the 478. Not sure if this information is corre...

The pandemic raised the prices of like all thinkpads and most laptops too. Sandy bridge machines went from $120 to $150, and Ivy Bridge went from $150 to $180. Then we have libreboot & coreboot and its insane how high some of these Core 2 Duo machines go. It's annoying to see a so called "rare" Thin...

Re: Detailed X1 Gen6 specs by machine type
For newer systems you'd have to put in the MTM and then the serial number from Lenovo's "Parts lookup" to see what parts are actually in the machine. Filter by how the machine was specified, or "as built' iirc and you'll get your specs. Well, sort of, you might have to then click and see what these ...

From what I gathered
320 (5523-Yxx) came out in 1993, maybe September
330C (5523-Jxx) came out in April 1994
330Cs (5523-Jxx) came out in October 1994.
310 models (2600-xxx) arrived in January 1997.

Good info. I hope some of these folk just let us know where to source the materials... Unless they want to DIY it themselves for a heavy profit. Best of luck, I would never expect someone from the high desert would be into ThinkPads as well (former Hesperian).
Unfortunately, I do not have any teardown photos of an X230T, you may have better chance on an X220T vs the X230T because of the dang bios whitelist check.

If you decide to buy an m.2, be sure to check your P70 if it has an m.2 caddy installed on there. Part no: 4XB0K59917. They won't fit without it, but they come with a heatsink for the hassle. And yes you'll want a m.2 2280 size drive, NVMe 3.0 x4. Also be sure to check the SSD name when you buy them...

I don't think lubricating will do the job. I had a 700, 720 or 750 (cant remember right now), that it's hinges just broke the case of the machine.
I left it in storage and it seemed a lot more brittle before putting it in there... but other ThinkPads aren't as bad as this thing.
