I'm interested in this as well. I have read about it being difficult for X230 batteries, but for X220 batteries, I have no idea.

Re: X220 Best IPS Screen
Give the huge variance in ghosting (really image retention) reports on the X220 IPS screens, even within the same model (B1, B3, T1), and even as a function of time, on the same unit, I have to wonder if the ghosting is not due to factors external to the panel (like electrical interference within t...

Re: X220 Best IPS Screen
I'd like to post my thoughts and experience with the SL-B3 and the SL-T1. It's on an X230, but that doesn't make a difference. My X230 which I bought used came with an SL-B3 screen installed. The screen had three small marks where it was hit with something sharp that caused a few spots of white pixe...

How did the swap go? The only consideration I would add is that it seems like you are desecrating a mint-condition machine there!

Re: x230 Wi-Fi card replacement and external antenna
My experience with X230 is that the built in antenna are sufficient. Lenovo spent $$$ engineering the OEM setup, no need to waste time and money reinventing the wheel. The X230 antennas are sub-optimal. Even with the Intel AX210 in there, the wireless reception is not as good as it is on other lapt...

Re: FS: X62 500GB SSD, 8GB RAM, SXGA+
I bought the nicest looking X61 chassis I could find. I think that the lid was re-sprayed somehow by the seller I bought it from. I just get the feeling. I've treated it very gently. I have tried to "Hackintosh" other things, including a desktop I built for the express purpose. I'm good with hardwar...

FS: 4x 15" 4:3 T61 Frankenpads plus accessories
Hi. I bought one of these on here and I built three by myself. With the ones I made myself I wanted to go all-out and do the best job I possibly could, considering them useful works of art. These machines are beautiful and still work well. I used the Thinkpad I bought here the most, even though it h...

FS: X62 500GB SSD, 8GB RAM, SXGA+
First of all, I know I will regret selling this. I bought the X62 board new in October 2016. I put it into an X61 donor and added an SXGA+ screen, a 500GB MSATA SSD, and 8GB RAM. It has worked fine since day 1. The problems with this computer are as follows: 1. The bezel around the screen on the top...

Re: Power consumption 5100 vs 6200 Wifi
I upgraded my machines to 5300 wireless cards when they were released. Those proved a big improvement. Then when the 6300 was released a year later, I jumped on those. However, there was no difference I could detect in reception or battery life. I even ran some power drain tests and could not tell. ...

Re: X62 problems, quirks, and fixes
I finally got my X62 up and running. I have had the motherboard for three months. I took it to work to put it together, but got annoyed by the relatively low quality things seemed and shoved it away somewhere. I brought it home about a week ago and got it up with Linux Mint. The computer runs fine. ...

Re: Windows 10 and why I don't care for it much.
I have not tried out Windows 10, and probably don't have much interest in doing so. Win 7 is working fine on my one-year-old Dell XPS 8700, as well as on numerous Thinkpads. I also have Linux Mint 16 or 17 on almost all of my later Thinkpads starting with the T40s and into the T60s. As I gain more ...

Re: LF: T500 9-cell battery
If you want a 12 cell battery for your T500, the only way to do it is go generic. I have had generic battery circuits fail on me, but they never caused fire or any other sort of damage, the battery simply stopped working in some way. I only buy generic batteries. I can have one rarely fail and still...

If you scour the T61 quad-core thread you will find that it has been tried in a T400 and T500. However, the way to get it to work in the T61 is currently not possible in the T400 or T500, and may not ever be.

Re: Thoughts on the T500?
You should use both. Install the switchable graphics from Lenovo, and then use the AMD graphics drivers update tool to install the latest graphics drivers for the system. Then you get the best of both worlds. The computer does get hot, but even with overclocking the HD3650, undervolting my T9900 and...

You can mix and match chargers without any problem.
The best deals on real chargers are used ones on Ebay. The lifespan of chargers is "indefinite" so you shouldn't worry about them being used.

It would be a wasted effort. A slight bump in clock speed and going from 3MB to 6MB cache are not things that would be noticeable. Without any other modifications, the only upgrade that might be enough to be noticeable would be an X9000.

Re: Back to PC laptops/Thinkpads
An X61, let alone an X61s, is something you get because really, really want one of them. They would only be any kind of upgrade if your Macbook is the original one released in early 2006. Go with the cheapest 12-13" laptop you can find that uses DDR3.

Good luck with that XD. the $40 T9900 probably have fallen pads when the seller were removing the CPU and they used a board to cover that defect. such as this one here: http://forum.51nb.com/forum.php?mod=attachment&aid=MTgxNzM4NXw2OGQ2ZTdjYnwxNDMwNDQ5Nzc2fDExOTEwOTh8MTQ3MTYwNw%3D%3D¬humb=yes or...

Re: Anyone measure the milligaus ElectroMagnetic Radiation right at keyboard and under laptop?
Oh please. This is a complete joke and there is nothing to fear. If a 2µT magnetic field has "severe health effects," there would be no life on this planet. There is no compelling evidence for negative health effects from magnetic fields that people are commonly exposed to. The WHO says that exposur...

I have seen the same exact FRU number on two heatsinks/fans that looked different from each other. I'm guessing it is because Lenovo sourced them from different places. One I think said Toshiba on the fan sticker.

Re: X61 with touchpad ... done ** PICS **
If you want a cheap touchpad, just buy one for a T60/T61. Those seem sized very well for the X61. I can find them for $5 plus shipping here, brand new. amazing work, just too labor intensive for me. Do they sell a wireless touchpad I could dremel a spot for and connect wirelessly? Separate touchpads...
