Kerio is okay, but the last time I had it installed it failed a leak test. Hopefully it improved over the last 2 months, but just incase I'd run some tests to make sure. You want to do port scan tests (which I'm pretty sure it will pass all of them) and "leak" tests which only the good firelwalls do...

IBM R&R vs Acronis TrueImage

Last night I had to do a full system restore and "System Restore" was disabled so I had to use IBM's Rapid Restore utility and got my system like it came from the factory. Midway though reinstalling all my software, getting my system back to how I like it, XP got currupted. So I did the rapid restor...

That's a good question. I know for CPU pins you can get a mechanical pencil, but I haven't done that on a PCMCIA slot. Have you tried fitting a thin pair of needle nose pliers or using tweezers?

I have an external 10-key number pad from Kingston. It went on clerance at my work, but it has two built in USB ports that come in handy every now and then. Targus has a really tiny tiny little four-port USB hub which looks pretty cool but it doesn't have an extra power plug option. Hubs work great,...

That's actually a stuck pixel , a dead pixel is when a pixel is perminatlely shut off. A stuck pixel is a pixel that is permanently in the on position. Dead pixels are usually hopeless. Stuck pixels have a slighty better chance of comming back to working condition. This chance of fixing the pixel is...

Yeah I ditched Norton for Nod32. A lot of programs will do better then Norton and usually will cost less. However, AVG and Avast do not detect any better then Norton. I second the WRT54G Linksys router. As far as performance in speed they'll all be the same, but the Linksys is built using a little better parts making it less prone to crashing. Buying refurbished might actually be a smart idea. I bet 95% of the time all that needs to be done to the batteries is for the lithium packs inside the cartrige to be replaced. If they can do that I bet the batteries would be as good as new.

I disagree. Microsoft itself recommends not running in Administrator mode when connected to the internet, unless it is really necessary.
