Re: Lenovo warns of Windows 10 2004 crashing ThinkPad laptops

I just maintain one machine with W10 for my girlfriend, all other machines are smoothly running Debian. It is shocking how hot and loud the W10 machine is running. It is like a jumbo jet continuously going in overdrive. I do not understand why people still want to stay on windows. It is a complete n...

How should I proceed?
Are you using lightdm? The fix is the following, create /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf and add the following:

Section "Device"
Identifier "Intel Graphics"
Driver "intel"
EndSection

Reboot your machine and all should work fine...

Re: Messed up with Windows Updates by running Up10control...

From what I learned here it seems that Up10control does exactly what it claims - it renders Windows Update unusable, unless you run the program manually. This should be a welcome tool to users of Win10 Home that have no other reliable way of stopping Windows Update permanently (it keeps re-activati...

Well, I had a friend from Chicago visiting Poland (and Europe in general) for the first time last year. They can open up whatever they want at this point the damage has been done. And once we're out of the tunnel we'll be facing a very bleak economic reality. Which in itself will pose a far bigger health risk than the Wuhan virus ever did. IMO, that is. Like the economic reality was not yet bleak pre...

In spite of the statewide lockdown, today I sold my Monoprice 10734 monitor (30" 2560x1600) via Craigslist. I wore gloves, a mask, and even lab safety glasses, and the buyer agreed to do the same. During the entire transaction we maintained a distance of at least 6 feet, and I asked the buyer to pu...
