Thinkpad 380D pixel issue
Hi i just bought me one more Thinkpad this week and it's an immaculate 380D. sadly there seems to be some dead or stuck pixels on screen right opposite where the read TP track-pointer knob would be touching the screen. please see the photos below: https://ibb.co/wBwCJxs https://ibb.co/BVqjKkY https:...

Re: Thinkpad 720c screen question
i just connected this to an external monitor and despite the seller's claim, laptop outputs just fine to the external monitor, so i am guessing this means it has a faulty LCD?
main question still remains though, if the back light and inverter are compatible with a 750c?

Thinkpad 720c screen question
hi all, just bought this Thinkpad 720c which defective screen (https://ibb.co/TkBPFy8). i think i paid a bit too much for it ($NZ80) considering the screen issue but it has a bag and charger and it sort of works so i went for it, but mainly i am hoping to be able to pull out the backlight and invert...

thanks yeah i started searching for a ISA graphic card which would be the cheapest and easiest option i guess. there are few for sale on ebay like this one for $20 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Trident-TVGA8900C-512-kB-Graphics-Card-ISA-Slot/193394909733 just thinking if it would be simple plug in a...

Re: what computer model is this?
i know i feel the same when i look at it. my very first computer was a 386DX at high school because i could not afford a 486, had a massive 4MB of ram and a 80mb hard drive though. i will be stoked if this computer also has 4MB ram, the HDD is 43mb apparently will be thoroughly cleaning this up and ...

Re: what computer model is this?
thanks guys yes it does look like a clone generic brand PC. i was hoping its an antique computer from 1700's when US had only five states! : )
it probably has a very small size IDE hard drive which worth taking out, reset is junk i guess. unless its a 286 or something.

Re: 600E boot problem
It is. My 600E died that way. Haven't searched for a solution, though. i have searched and have found nothing. the connector would be just a piece of adapter thing soldered to motherboard so i am guessing that could not be a complicated repair if connector in fact is faulty. maybe reheating the sol...

Re: 750c vs 755c backlit interchangeable?
That's a DSTN screen for the price of a complete laptop. Not really worth it. I've seen a couple of offers of untested/for parts 755 laptops for about 25-30 usd on ebay. But shipping to NZ is around 80 bucks, which makes all of them too expensive. Is there really no local offering? yes i feel the s...

Re: 750c vs 755c backlit interchangeable?
To get your hopes up a bit, DSTN 760 models can be swapped with a TFT screen and vice versa. I can confirm this. I've done TFT-DSTN swap between 760LD and 760EL and it worked. So if the video card and the connectors are the same there are good chances that it will work. thanks i look up for other T...

Re: 750c vs 755c backlit interchangeable?
Two sliders mean it's a DSTN screen. Look for a TFT display with one slider, if possible. My guess is most of them should be interchangeable. Like Bondi said, looking at the HMM, there is at least one LCD with the same part number. But while the connectors on the mobo may be the same, the inner wor...

Re: 750c vs 755c backlit interchangeable?
I've looked through the HMM quickly and found at least one common LCD p/n for 750x and 755x - 66G5058. Maybe there are more. http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/tpvol2.pdf thanks. yea that is what i thought too. there are two separate boards inside 750c screen, one has two slider...

750c vs 755c backlit interchangeable?
hi all, i have given up on finding a replacement backlit for my 750C :( but i can see quite a few of cheap complete 755C in non-working/untested conditions on ebay. would i be able to reuse ANY component (or even swap the whole screen) from a 755c to my 750c? i can see nearly all the 755c screens ha...

Re: 600E boot problem
MS-DOS and PC-DOS used FDISK /MBR to blow away and recreate the master boot record. I remember having to do that when putting a drive in a system from some older/newer one to be able to use it. However, that means you are installing from floppy. yea not having a 600E floppy drive seems to be my pro...

Re: 600E boot problem
The OS is not the issue. It's the BIOS. If the BIOS doesn't have the HDD geometry hardcoded into it or a similar drive size, it will return a lower value to the OS. look and see if drive sizes are mentioned in the read.me file of the last BIOS update. Verify you turned on LBA mode in the BIOS to us...

actually i think i found my answer: http://web.archive.org/web/20050326033131/http://personal.bellsouth.net:80/d/r/drseng/ThinkpadCCFL/ so i have to look for a tube inside the screen assembly. i was under impression its a big flat rectangular panel, same size as LCD, similar to my 750c. how does th...
