I need to dig a bit deeper in my memory...
G51 definitely did not need a different ribbon cable for UXGA.
G41 - AFAIR - did not need a different ribbon cable for SXGA+, but I think I couldn't make UXGA to work.
G40... can't remember at all. It's sporting XGA in my garage

Re: Is this too many laptops in your opinion?
After that? We'll see. I can recommend Noctua NT-H1 - am using it on quite a couple of my systems and it does great job. Easy to apply, and lasts for (at least) 3 years - I have used both TG, AC5, AAB different inventions, but always got back to NT-H1. Did some ccomparison tests that were especiall...

I really hope the next owner of this stuff puts it into good use. If i'm still building 15" units I'd love to get that, but my job is finished. Aaaaand I'm on the wrong side of the pond

Tinkering out M93p SFF - new PSU needed?
Hello fellow thinkpadders, I am tinkering around an old M93p I've bought years ago for a good word. Turns out after all these years messing with electronics I have some RAM, I have a proper CPU, all the peripherials are here somewhere as well. The thing is, I also have SOME graphics card that I beli...

Hello, Yet another T61p from my stable. T9300, 4 gigs of DDR-2, no HDD/Charger, but may supply them for extra cost. Working genuine battery. WUXGA screen, display is crisp and nice as far as I could tell. DVD-RW. Plastics in good cosmethic shape, however with lid being heavily scratched. I have no m...

Re: FS: T430s with IPS FHD and max configuration
Well, what you're saying is correct, there is a higher configuration. But in this case, higher does not mean better, at least for me. :D Sorry, but no. Writing "max configuration" you are confusing these ones that are unaware that this can be installed in this particular one. "At least for me" is a...

It features FHD IPS display (B140HAN01.3), Core i5-3320m CPU, 8GB of RAM (Kingston HyperX 2133MHz), Samsung 860 EVO 250GB SSD, Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 WLAN card (3x3), 3G module, 2 batteries (regular + Ultrabay), 90W power adapter... This is basically as good as it gets. And the laptop is in...

I should have done that long, long ago, but the pics are here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1RIk3p8sgLrogUjo8hl6NxZg_7T4eDzpk?usp=sharing There are some pressure marks on the panel (visible on the panel when turned off) and it is a bit darker in the middle. Very low to no yellowing though,...

Re: Under construction: R61p *Picture warning*
The audio sockets on the R500 planar face the front. If you were to insert that as-is in a R60 you'd have to cut the structure frame, then the plastic as they'd be recessed should you want access. There's quite a bit more to it. If you bought your first from el sahef or mimic his then he just remov...

Hello, I've recently bought a used T450s for my wife. However, the camera is not working / not visible in the system. Hence I have replaced the cam. No effect. Replaced the ribbon cable. No effect. Re: Under construction: R61p *Picture warning*
I did the same. Cutting the plastic introduces weakness and detracts from the cosmetics. It can be done properly though, sealing the reader access surrounding, but it is such a lot of work. Different thing with the audio jacks for the R500 planar in a R60 -- a R62, by the way :) I've built such sys...

AzureWave AH-VD920H in T61p
Hello there, I have bought a nicey T61p this week, and while doing some maintenance I have found an AH-VD920H installed in it. While I was almost certain the device has not been disassembled ever (you can't imagine how much dust can there be inside a 13-years-old system), the card is definitely not ...

Re: T500 based Frankenpad?
My newest rig consists of a Thinkpad P53 and a NEC P212, 21" 4:3 IPS monitor. Yet, somehow, I'm still attached to the Frankenpads for comfort and good ergonomics. I'm running a P50 + eGPU + 2x thinkvision 2453p (24" WUXGA IPS). This does not change the fact, that the same LCDs are being connected t...

Just checking you know about TuuS and his boards ? Not the cheapest ($130 + $40) but surely the world's finest :) Last I heard he was on his final couple of boxes.. Hinges are tight, keyboard with minimal wear, lid with minimal scratches. You can see the pictures here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1TYxanC1aig6LYgn89iX7rWD7...

Yeah I am aware of that. But wouldn't liquid metal help in shortening the temperature difference? Also on a T61 with NVS140M what's the typical operating GPU temperature if fitted with a better T500 heatsink anyway? This is to-be-discussed. I have found heatsink from T61p (3-heatpipe) dissipate hea...
