I ordered a replacement touchpad for an X240 because we all know the buttons on those are an abomination. This was advertised as fitting both the X240 and X250 and showed up a week late but doesn't come close to fitting. I have no idea what this fits and the barcode isn't much help. Measures exactly 100mm × 75mm.

That one is an Alps touchpad+buttons for the T440/T450 models.

Do X250 and T450 not use the same trackpad?

Nope the X250 is narrower. They also use different keyboards.
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.
