WTB: Frankenpad or any other powerful 4:3 Thinkpad

#1 Post by PadPoet » Tue Feb 11, 2020 5:53 am

Hi there folks,

Looking to buy a nice mint Frankenpad. Any offers? Or any other powerful 4:3 (or is it 5:4) Thinkpad.

Must be willing to ship to Spain.

Thanks,

PP

Hey there,

I got 2 great T61 Frankenpads:
1. T8300, LED strip modded BoeHydis UXGA, up to 8GB RAM, Intel only, BroadcomHD, Wifi etc. pp. up
2. T9300, brand new! (in the sense of never used, just out of the package) BoeHydis UXGA, up to 8GB RAM, T500 Heatsink+Fan, Intel only, Broadcom CrystaHD, Wifi etc. pp.
Would have to check which batteries I still have left, I think at least one normal one big one.

Shipping from Germany.

When it comes to Frankenpad everyone talks about a T61 motherboard in a T60 body. I got one of these, it's OK.

However for me it's a X61T body with a transplanted X60T svga+ IPS screen. I got a few of these. All the benefits of a T601 but in a smaller package. Cheaper and easier too. A few years ago I could get a X61T and a X60T for less than $100 Cdn for both. Simple swap of the complete LCD screen assembly. Was able to sell the leftover (X61T screen on X60T body) for $50 in the local classified. Of course I specified what I did in the ad.

X60t SXGA+ screens are sadly now rare and expensive

T601 is simply the most popular.

I have a couple of others - R61i or a couple of R600 (R500 motherboard inside R60 4:3 chassis).
Too many thinkpads not enough time!
(stable under reduction)
