WTB: Degraded but working 9-cell battery for X200/X201

#1 Post by astral » Mon Feb 17, 2025 6:16 pm

I've decided to buy one of the X210Ai systems as my next laptop and will be needing a battery for it. The plan is to get a used OEM 9-cell battery that's heavily degraded (but charges) and then send it to CHANS Battery rebuild to get new cells put in. So, if you've got that old junk battery that holds 30 minutes of charge lying around somewhere, I'd like to buy it!

Battery I need is the 47++ pack for the X200/X201.

Since this is going to be my daily use laptop, I'm looking for a battery that's in pretty good cosmetic condition. Some minor scratches are fine.

US only please.

Thanks!

I had CHANS Battery rebuild two completely dead X61 batteries for me, so I would assume they could also revive a dead X200 battery as well. Worth looking into anyways, good luck on your search!

I'd take a completely dead one if I got desparate enough - if it's the cells that are bad then yes, CHANS would be able to do it. I just don't want to get unlucky and get a battery where the BMS failed instead of the cells. I've already emailed CHANS and they definitely can rebuild an X200 battery, I just need to find one. eBay has nothing - just one fishy listing that seems to indicate they could send me a "compatible" battery even though they show a genuine Lenovo pack in the photos. X200/X201 parts seem to be unexpectedly scarce.

I found a genuine used battery on eBay, so assuming it ends up being as described, I've found what I needed.
