Would like to buy an 850mhz 600X....OR......
I'd like to buy a 600X on eBay and upgrade it to 850mhz.
Does anyone have the CPU or MB for this upgrade....and want to sell?
If you read my other post here, also considering how to spend my $1000 for a thinkpad....but really like the 600 series a lot! Any suggestions?
Checked on IBM site for their "sales" items, etc....it's a joke...way over priced even for the older stuff and the warranties on these things are also a joke....way to much chopping that stuff out to be worth it.
Wish Bill would offer Thinkpads that are priced more in my range....would jump at his deals if they were.....
I'm rambling so I'll quit....Anyone have/want to sell what I need?

Send an email to my buddy Bruce (scosgt at worldnet.att.net) and tell him I said to give you one of the T23s he was holding for me.

2647-4MU
256 RAM
All look very clean.
Warranty 3/2005
No OS is loaded, Recovery CD's are available (at this price you can do the work!!!)
All boot up, no passwords, didn't see any blotchy screens or any dead pixels.
Batterys are NOT evaluated or warranted in any way.
All include DVD drives
Price is $550 cash/money order. PayPal price is $565
Shipping will probably average around $30.00, but I only charge actual
shipping to your zip code, priority mail, so send your zip code so I can
figure it out.
NY Residents paying via PayPal pay 8.75% sales tax (I just collect it, I don't keep it).

This is a killer deal for a T23 with almost 1 year of IBM warranty remaining and is LESS than what I get for one of my upgraded PIII 800MHz 600Xs! I would definitely consider upgrading the warranty on one of these for an additional two years.
Anything Bruce sends you will be at least as nice as he says it is.
Regards,
James

Thanks James!
I sent your buddy Bruce an email inquiring about his T23's as well as his upgraded 600X's. I hope to hear from him soon....If not, I'll probably be bidding on a T41 tomorrow....as this seems to be the best bang for the buck...but to be honest, I'd rather get a 600X so I could still use all of my 600E stuff with it.

Oh...Okay!
Oh, okay....Now I understand....you still have some of these? I like the large and fast HDD! Do you sell any of these with CDRW/DVD? Or, DVD Multiburner? Might be interested...though I'm looking at a T42 (not "p") on ebay which finishes tonight....Your post certainly makes things more interesting for me and more to consider.
Also, haven't heard back from Bruce yet, but do you know what size and speed HDD he has in them? Most of the T23's I saw on eBay have the slower 30gig HDD's in them. Also, do you know if the T23 has USB2.0 or regular. Sorry, but it's hard to find this stuff on the IBM site. It says 2-USB, but I thought there was only one USB port, so it makes me think it's a USB2.0...but I may be wrong.

Yes, I still have a couple of upgraded 600Xs available and yes they're available with a CD-RW/DVD drive for an addtitional $100.
Well, truth to tell, I have three units awaiting final assembly as I tend to build these to order.
I prefer external multi-burners in general, but only with a USB2.0 PC card installed. The external drive and card is also usually less costly than an internal drive.

James

Hey there...sorry, but I got no reply from you. May be my spam filter. I get over 500 emails a day and so I have it set up, but since I've written to a lot of people lately, I've been careful to check my "filtered file." Please try again, and write me at badger36@esper.com
Thanks,
Dave

JHEM...I'm curious...can you add USB2.0 to the 600X? If so, that puts my interest level in this machine up several more notches.
My bid on the T42 didn't work out last night....in the last 30 mintues or so, I couldn't confirm the seller's email address and in the last 15 minutes he all of a sudden became an "unregistered user." Don't know what he did, but looks like he couldn't be trusted. Sure glad I hadn't placed a bid...though, the machine would have been quite a purchase....
So....I'm on the hunt again.

You can add USB 2.0 to almost anything
Via PCMCIA card.
Built in is nice, but it takes a newer ThinkPad to get that.
