T42 15" SXGA+ fully loaded, dock, batts, warrty - PICS

#1 Post by fbrdphreak » Sun Apr 29, 2007 11:13 pm

For sale is my beloved T42. I purchased it back in August 2004 through my school for $2K  It came well loaded at the time, but is fully loaded now ;)

Original Specs 2373-NC1
*15" SXGA+ FlexView 1400x1050
*1.7GHz Pentium M (Dothan 400MHz FSB)
*512MB RAM
*40GB 5400rpm
*64MB Radeon 9600
*a/b/g I WiFi card
*CDRW/DVDROM
*6-cell battery
*3 year warranty with ThinkPad Protection (expires August 2007)

Upgraded Specs
*2.0GHz Pentium M (can put original CPU in if preferred)
*2GB DDR333 RAM
*100GB 7200rpm Seagate
*8x DVDRW
*6 & 9 cell battery
*Ultrabay battery
*Ultrabay PATA HDD adapter
*Mini-Dock with full port replication & DVI (see http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-45932)

The machine is in great condition, with no problems at all. The screen is immaculate, a great example of the FlexView displays. It has a fresh install of Windows XP Professional, installed using the machine's Windows COA & serial. I will include a Windows install disc created for this machine. Accordingly, the system no longer has the recovery partition. You can purchase a set of recovery discs from Lenovo that will restore this.

The mini dock works great, includes its own power adapter, and has DVI output which I loved.

The batteries are in good working condition, but not full capacity.

It has warranty until August 2007, I will be sure to transfer it to the new owner.

Please let me know of any questions and I will answer them. I am reformatting the machnine as we speak so it will be ready to go, fully updated, in a couple days. I will ship it and accessories via Fedex ground.

I am asking $800 + actual shipping costs. Given the quality of this machine, the large number of very useful accessories, and the standing warranty coverage, I feel this is a fair price. I am open to offers, but low ballers will be ignored.

I have 62 positive trades on Heatware.com: http://www.heatware.com/eval.php?id=31217

And 20-something eBay refs under gtophreak

Thanks!

It is a 755, but needs to either stay in this system or the other laptop which has the T42's original P-M 735. Thanks

 That's a lot of upgrades! Get a barebone off ebay and you can build another T42 with the original parts!

I had to return this T42 because
the case was cracked and
the FlexView was not immaculate.
What a pity!

I am very sorry to hear this, as I would believe that this T42 was superb (judging from the specifications and its description). At the time posted, I was also interested in it... but you were too fast!

Could you perhaps expand a little on why the FlexView/IPS display was not "immaculate", as claimed by the seller? Any specific reason?

Thanks in advance... I am trying to learn how to read advertisements here!

Best regards,

Johan

He already did, here.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.
