HI there,
personally i;m totally shocked about the professionalism of IBM (Switzerland) comparing with Toshiba... i mean they are very promt, sending you a new part home in less than 24h not like Toshiba for ex which till your hdd doesnt die, be them dead if they'll cange it!
so, now i wonder, how are the other services? SONY, Dell...
if IBM (Lenovo) is the only one sooo good honeslty i really think i will be IBM Customer for life! it's only black, but great built and you know if there'll be problems you wont have to fight with them, a simple call can solve the problem!
hats up for IBM!

Over 90% of my problems with IBM's where solved fast and easy.
So yes, I would buy an IBM (or Lenovo now...) any day.
Tough, there are some points where they can improve at.
But every company has some.
So generally I am content about them.

I can tell you a couple of companies that I WILL NOT be doing business with, based on my limited interaction:
A few years ago, before Gateway took some, uh, bad hits, they had advertised some "refurbs" that looked promising.
I called, got a VERY nice, helpful lady, who, after some questions, determined that they could "do better" for what I wanted with new----
transferred me to the USED CAR SALESMAN FROM HELL
He immediately wanted to know who all was in my family, what they took in school, what color of lipstick my daughter would have used if I'd had a daughter----
and I said WAHHAAAAHAAAA????
He told me "they had to tailor the software on the computer to my personal and family needs...." or some BS.
(All I wanted was the price, some features, etc)
Then, there's HP's uh, "support" I called one time for a friend about replacement CDs for a flatbed scanner.
I could NOT get it through this bozo's head that I wanted Cd's for the then current 98SE AND W2K.
He kept asking me if I was running 98SE or W2K? I kept trying to tell him "yes, I'm running 98SE or W2K" He finally got VERY mouthy and VERY impolite---something I don't tolerate for long. Having spent over 20 minutes of high priced phone time to get that far, I simply concluded that Comcrap and HP ain't wut they useda be.
(In the 70's I was in the U.S. Navy, and back then, HP made some of the finest electronics test equipment in the world. Even into the '80's and maybe '90s, they have produced some dazzling high end communications test equipment.)
Too bad that doesn't "slop over" into consumer goods.
I dearly hope that Lenovo continues the support that IBM exhibited int he past, but frankly, I don't feel optimistic.

From personal experience,
Sony has great customer service... If you're literally willing to spend 3 hours on the phone to talk to someone.
Dell support used to be one of the best but has since collapsed. There's a reason all their machines come with a 90 day warranty as standard now.
You get what you pay for with IBM.
