Power on password removable?
I'm thinking of getting:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231133628399? ... 1438.l2649 or
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331104362011? ... 1438.l2649
But was wondering how to remove the PoP? Lenovo's website said remove all the batteries and it clears but I want to confirm this works on a X61 / T61?

If they are POP, then yes, removing the CMOS battery for a short time will remove them.
But I doubt very much that they are POP, I bet they are Supervisor Passwords.
When/if you buy one/both, before you remove the CMOS, when that lock shows: check if the Esc key lets you into BIOS to at least look around at the Security settings.
Report back before you do anything.
FYI, have a look at my website...
As to that eBayer, his info is poor/wrong, neither of the TYPEs exists!

POP and SVP use the same icon, except on some old(er) Thinkpads.

Re: Power on password removable?
ok. I ended up buying this one as it was very cheap and I have a 3000 C200 with a broken screen which might be mix and match-able. If you have any ideas on what is wrong with it do tell meRealBlackStuff wrote:POP and SVP use the same icon, except on some old(er) Thinkpads.

Remove HD/CD/wifi/modem, whatever is there, then try to boot into BIOS.
I have one of those as well (but with a matte screen), no problems there at all.

Re: Power on password removable?
If you were interested it is now fully working. The dvd drive bracket (the thing that screws onto the end of the drive where the case screw goes - does that make sense? :p ) was bent making the drive stick out and have a loose conection, took the one out of my dead 3000 C200 and all is good there. I believe the ram was bad and I've managed to get 3GB in thereRealBlackStuff wrote:Remove HD/CD/wifi/modem, whatever is there, then try to boot into BIOS.

The only mystery is the webcam driver (Vista X64) and how to get the fingerprint software to work for logging into windows.
