Sometimes living in NC has its perks...

Namely that the refurb fulfillment center is just a few miles away.

Code: Select all

Chapel Hill, NC, United States 11/08/2012 6:41 A.M. Out For Delivery
                                11/08/2012 1:54 A.M. Arrival Scan
Greensboro, NC, United States 11/08/2012 12:59 A.M. Departure Scan
(Hey, after 6 Nov. we take what we can get!)

That said, I do wonder if local pickup is an option... I tend to drive faster than the brown trucks.

I did undergrad in Greensboro, and I remember that UPS was hiring PC and cellphone techs to perform warranty repairs at their hubs. I remember specifically that Dell outsourced to UPS for warranty repairs, because turnaround time was much faster. It would not surprise me if Lenovo did this as well.

The UPS hub is off South Elm-Eugene street, if I remember correctly.

I don't think they do. AFAIK depot repair is outsourced to Flextronics, while refurbishing/redistribution is handled by Lenovo themselves.

I swear UPS knows when I leave because they show 15 minutes after almost every time.

Same. Even more fun is that despite requiring a signature, they often don't bother to see if anybody's home before slapping one of those "Info Notice" stickers on the door and zipping off.

Luckily, I live well out in the woods, on a private dead end road, and my porch really cannot be seen clearly from the road. A pilferer would have to come right up to the porch, and, of course the three large hounds ( they think they are dobermans ) , and the pit/lab mix  , might be a bit off putting.
I am careful not to have anyone loose when people or deliveries are expected, but man what a racket they put up.
So. the men in brown are pretty quick about putting things on my porch. I usually get to yell "Thanks!" just as they rapidly climb back in the truck.
All the best. watch where you step! Cheers! Rich.
