Lenovo Certifications and Training Questions

Lately I've been looking at getting some computer certifications for my resume, and since I'm familiar with Thinkpads I thought that would be a good place to start, after my Comptia A+. Looking into it, I found Lenovo's site for training:

If you look at the training roadmap,

You start with Comptia A+ or Server+ certification, then go through RXWT1 Lenovo Warranty Basics for Technicians, then RTD08 and RTT08. However, from what I've been able to find, it looks like you have to be employed by a Lenovo Business Partner in order to take the courses. Is this true? Does anyone here have these certifications, and can Joe Average off the street get them?

The same also appears to be true for IBM certifications?
