Graphics on a ThinkPad third-generation I5 VS E5200+GT520?

#1 Post by bbmiller » Mon Jul 28, 2014 1:15 am

Hello
I was thinking of buying a used ThinkPad on eBay as low-priced as I could go to meet my needs. On another thread when I stated my needs as being good to watch videos once annual airplane trip to my parents plus another computer to search the web for repair instructions on how to fix my desktop should the need arise a member of your forums suggested a a T410 with I5 processor.

I then elaborated on my needs as including watching videos externally on a television with the resolution and quality I get from my desktop. And I was informed that if I was to need that I may have to get ThinkPad which includes Nvidia graphics on top of a i5 processor. Doing more investigation on my own it seems that would be less expensive to move to a third-generation i5 processor which is said to have improved graphics over the processor included graphics on the first-generation I5.

There are various third-generation I5 processors with various models of ThinkPad's at very good eBay prices many have sold for under $200. However if any of you all have actual experience rendering high-resolution videos with such a ThinkPad and could testify to its quality all lack thereof I would appreciate it.

The processor on my desktop I am trying to equal is a dual core E5200 which is helped out by a NVIDIA GT 520 graphics card when playing videos.

Two examples of specifications on the types of videos I will be trying to render on a hopefully newly obtained use ThinkPads are below. Any insight you could give me on how they may render either through actual experience what technical knowledge would be appreciated.

For an exact description of those wishes, see the examples in my other post: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... 94#p738094

Mod edit: please do not double-post the same stuff, thank you.
