Touchpad question about newer model Thinkpads

#1 Post by roger_m » Sun Sep 28, 2014 11:55 pm

I have a T410 model Thinkpad that I purcahsed a few months ago. While like with my other Thinkpads I can not fault the overall quality of it, I really hate the textured touchpad. I have no issues at all with the smooth surfaced touchpads in my other Thinkpads, but in my opinion the textured touchpad is terrible. Aside from the fact I hate the feel of it, sometimes it is not responsive. I disabled all the gestures, which did help a little, but did not fix the issue. Thre above problems are a huge issue for me as I don't like using the trackpad, and I never use an external mouse.

I want to replace my T410 with a different laptop with a better touchpad. I am wondering if all newer model Thinkpads have a textured touchpad? If that is the case, then sadly I will have to switch to another brand.

I only buy used laptops from eBay (I haven't purchased a new laptop for eight years) as in my case I think buying a new laptop is a complete waste of money, as I have no need to have a ultra fast processor. For any laptops I am going to be using reguarly, I have only been buying Thinkpads for the last few years, due to exceptional build quality and support.

Thank you very much for the link. Now I can keep using Thinkpads.
