Cure for clickpads on (TWX)x40 series

#1 Post by FryPpy » Sat Apr 11, 2015 12:32 pm

... Today i have disassembled W700 and tried find out why XRite didn't work. Some time ago I have bought (from feebay;) palmrest with Wacom and XRite to replace basic palmrest. And fingerprint and XRote haven't worked. I have frankenpadded some parts (mainly fingerprint reader and ribbon cable) from basic palmrest and Wacom other and it began working.
Today i have discovered micro scratches (from rough cable bending) on ribbon cable of wacom palmrest. Tested it with multimeter and performed some more tests. And understand that XRite sensor working well but the problem in ribbon cable.
I have moved to ebay to find some ribbon cables for W700... and found nothing:(

BUT I HAVE FOUND THIS - touchpad replacement - with buttons! What do you think about this? I think it is non Lenovo (there is no FRU sticker).
This is not advertise. I have no x40-series Thinkpads and have no business with this ebay member.

They've been discussing here at NBR for a while and I think there's a couple threads here too. I don't have a T440, so that's all I can say.

Ok. I am too late.
I am not often visiting of NBR and not reading x40 topics because have not any.
I have seen touchpads for all x40 series - X240 and some 540s on ebay.
