For the thread I was talking about, I imagined something more along the lines of the old thread, "Who's behind the computer?" or "Who are you?".

Facebook is ok, but I am not very active there, and I prefer to not put invitations and details from Facebook or other services out in public. I would almost prefer that to be in a PM, as a private handshake between me and people here that I had discussions with and dealt with before. But my invitation still stands, if someone feel like connecting. The Facebook group is a good idea though, and maybe that's sufficient for contact outside of the forum if more of us become aware of it's existence and join it.

Maybe because in light of our comparatively closed and tight knit forum circuit that FB page is simply irrelevant? I doubt that any of those intelligent and capable forum members who are truly worth to read from on a regular basis would ever bother to waste precious time with FB. Time just goes, and never returns, and wasting it with something like FB only results in lost time with no productive gain.

Personally, i very much dislike merging everything and the kitchen sink with FB. I much prefer to keep things clearly separated without actively feeding such a privacy eroding stealth "service" with information that they *will* abuse for *their* gain, regardless of any loss suffered by its naive and willing user base.

Privacy has become the ultimate privilege in our digital times, and why would one want to actively give it away to some anonymous entity like FB? Wouldn't it make much more sense instead to share stuff directly and exclusively with one's selected peers, but without any intervening third party? Don't argue against or in favor of this stance, but please *do* think about it!
