Any news of a new dock?

Is the ThinkPad Dock II likely to be the standard full-featured dock for the T4x series for a long time, or is there any prospect of a Dock III or some other number in the near future?

I haven't seen anything about this, but I thought it was worth asking before going out and buying a Dock II.

I haven't heard anything but a Dock III that supports PCI Express, ExpressCard, 1394... makes sense to me.

I was simply stating the obvious - Dock II has reached the perverbial "end of the road". That said, I've noticed that IBM is getting rid of it's Dock IIs, to resellers and otherwise, a ridiculously low prices of late (that's how I got one of mine). Again, I don't know if this means anything - they might just be tidy up inventory as part of the Lenovo deal.

Yep - it's the one offered in the ForSale forum, but that's actually the MiniDock II, not the Dock II. Someone who didn't look closely enough responded to the first mesasge by asking about "your Dock II" and that seems to have got everyone confused. But it's definitely the mini-dock, which is usually available in sealed boxes on eBay for a lot less than the $125 (used) that's being asked for it in the forum...

Another thing you might want to do is query EBay for the lesser known Dock II Part Number/FRU combinations (e.g., 67P8999/67P9010 for the Swiss variant). Everyone seems to search for the Canada/U.S. variant 287710U/67P9010 - the other Dock II models can usually be had for a lot less. .
