Ice Lake Thinkpad X/T series

#1 Post by a9jqXL » Tue Jan 07, 2020 3:57 pm

When is Lenovo going to release Ice Lake versions of the X and T series Thinkpads?

I thought CES 2020 would bring news of this but I'm not seeing any so far.

I said the same thing (minus specifically Ice Lake) in the CES 2020 thread I made, and forum member bgx pointed out that they usually get announced after CES, which I had forgotten, for example check this post in the CES 2019 thread. So leaks may appear anywhere from end of January, and announcements somewhere around the end of February, if last year is any guide.

It is pretty safe to assume that this isn't happening, ever.

Ice Lake isn't available as a vPro version, which is important for business laptops. Thus, all ThinkPads with Intel CPUs will rely on Comet Lake this year.

Yes. Press contact has told me that they will likely be announced sometime around MWC this year.

My business will not approve purchases of vPro laptops because of the security vulnerabilities they bring. vPro has to be absent or set to "NSA disabled" status, whatever that means.
