How to get rid of old Thinkvantage installers?
How to get rid of old Thinkvantage installers?
I was wondering if there is a way, other than by hand looking at them one by one, to trash installers of "old" Thinkvantage upgrades, which get accumulated on disk and with time take up a lot of space.
I looked into both System Update and Software Installer, and in the related documentation, but I didn't find any reference to a functionality of "disk cleanup" pertaining to Thinkvantage software.
Any hint?
Regards
Neb

Yes there is. Get rid of all of the installer files with th numerical indices for folder names, but leave the two text files in the DRIVERS directory alone; they contain info about the current package state/image of the Thinkpad and Software Installer uses that information to determine what newer packages to get.

Very similar, SU/2 uses XML files more than SI did for the package state of the Thinkpad. Usually they come in folders along with a textual description of the software as well, all downloaded from the IBM/Lenovo servers. The ones that appear in all caps or have installers in them are safe to delete as are the ones with just *.XML and *.txt files. The files that should be left alone are the temp and system folders in there, the *.ser file under the "Sessions" directory, and the *.xml file under the "Sessions" directory.
