Could APS be responsible for some delayed write fail errors?
Could APS be responsible for some delayed write fail errors?
I've recently started getting occasional \$Mft delayed write errors and that's the only possible conclusion I've come to. I'd turned APS off when I got the laptop because it annoyed me and recently turned it back on just to see and it's the only link I can think of. Is it possible?
The errors haven't returned since I've turned it back off...
Otherwise, could it possibly be linked to low disk space? I regularly have less than 1gb free on my 60gb hdd :\
Any ideas?
(T42 btw)

i ran the short test in pc doctor and it passed everything.
the error hasn't reappeared since i made the thread and turned off APS so i'm guessing that's what it was... hmmm weird
i've also been having intermittent wifi problems since around the same time (internet suddenly stops working even though access connections still says everything is associated properly and only a reboot solves it) but i don't think that's related.

You'll need to make some space on that HD. Either uninstall some junk, or burn your music/photos etc onto a DVD, or get a larger HD.
You need a minimum of about 15% free on your HD to work properly.
When did you last 'clean' your Windows? You could start with CrapCleaner from www.ccleaner.com .
Delete your hibernate file if you are not using it. Check the size of your page file (avg. size is memory X 1.5).
Have you done a proper defrag?

ok well it's not due to APS after all...
it happened again a few times and it's usually preceded by my internet connection dying (wireless - access conenctions and windows taskbar icons still say it's connected and working but firefox/skype etc don't work) and a "the application failed to initialise properly (0xc0000017)" error when i try to bring up task manager with ctrl+alt+del. the delayed write fail errors don't happen every time my connection dies but my connection invariably dies after 4-5 hours of being connected. a reboot seemingly solves everything, until the next time the connection dies. i've googled around and found a couple of threads on various forums with people with exactly the same problem (minus the delayed write fail errors) but no solutions are offered. i ran a full hdd scan with pc doctor which came back fine. also ran chkdsk /f which was also ok. virus scans also come back clean.
i've since made some space on my hdd and ran o&o defrag. i also have ccleaner but daren't delete half the stuff it brings up in case i mess something important up.
i guess i should try and connect to the net with a cable rather than wirelessly to see if the problem persists but other than that i have no idea what this could be. any ideas? having to reboot every 4 hours is getting annoying and i'm slightly worried about the state of my hdd even though the tests seem ok
