But yours can boot, which is a great thing to know.
One pesky problem a ThinkPadder can diagnose.

Aye well good luck if you do sell it.
Actually the transnote's onboard memory can sometimes develop a fault. If that happens, the machine will still turn on and work as "normal", but will cause random problems as the corrupted memory module is used now and again.
The only way to fix it is to solder on fresh memory chips of course that are compatible with the transnote. I have a dead transnote in that situation presently. After removing the memory chips the machine will not boot up without them being present... unfortunately.

Same goes for the 701C, actually.

Another problem with the transnotes is that the nickel cadmium backup batteries should be removed as soon as possible-- as they can corrode traces.

New lithium-ion CMOS batteries can be made easily with some of the flat cells.
2x T60p, 1x T61, loads of 701Cs, 1x WorkPad Z50, 2x TransNotes other random thinkpads...

Long time has passed, but need similar help.

Bought my TransNote NEW back in 2002 and it worked great until around 4 years ago. Then, I tried defragging the HDD and something broke so that now Win2000 won't boot except in SAFE mode.

I have an I/O Magic PSCD-740 PCMCIA CD drive, but of course no driver (Win2000 recognizes the PCMCIA slot fine). I have a USB floppy, but don't know what I would do with it. I'm pretty sure I have all the original disks (floppy/CD) around somewhere, but can't find them ATM (in the process of packing to move). I also have the IBM expansion unit that attaches to the back of the TNote.

I've tried all of the links in the posts above, and they're all dead now. Not really surprising.

Any help would be appreciated!

Where possible, replaced the dead links.
Also, this forum hosts drivers for the Transnote, as well as the Manual.
Always check the Drivers and HMM links at the top of this page for old(er) stuff.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
But I actually prefer Murphy's from Cork!
