T23 and TPFanControl V0.62 2 speeds only?

#1 Post by thinkpadcollection » Thu Jan 07, 2016 10:35 pm

Was exploring the speeds readouts by playing with 0 to 7, anything above 3 to 7 is approx 5000rpm only, while 2400rpm is 1 to 2. 0 turns off fan. Is there a way to get more different fan speeds?

Cheers, thinkpadcollection

Try an older version of TPFC...as in *much* older...and it should work just fine on that T23...

Reason for this version in particular is manual fan speed to leave fan spinning constantly on low on both T61 and T60. The T23 fan bios is not tuned right, since bios does not trigger soon enough and CPU get real hot.

What's "real hot" for a T23?

I've had the CPU in one of my 1.13Ghz T23 systems hit 70C when transcoding video a little over 9 years ago. Only did that a couple of times before giving up on that platform and moving to an X60.

Not all that bad IMO. I've had T43p units idle at similar temps prior to undervolting them...
