UltraNav Memory Leak
Anybody else experiencing memory leaks with Lenovo's UltraNav driver? I find that the svchost.exe process that controls the driver uses up ~500MB of RAM and 100% CPU on one of the threads and the fan is running full blast.
I am using W7 64 with latest version of the driver for my Thinkpad (T410s).
I tried reinstalling the driver and it does nothing. I had to uninstall it to make it stop.
It's really strange because it didn't happen before and I made no changes to my machine recently.

Re: UltraNav Memory Leak
Have you checked that your Windows Update is working? I had a similar issue (high cpu, W7 32 T60p) that seemed to indicate UltraNav at first but I believe both services, and even a few more, were running under the same svchost.exe process.

I think you might be right.
I had the same issue when I checked for Windows updates.
The second time I checked the update worked normally. I reinstalled the driver and so far so good.

Re: UltraNav Memory Leak
The issue came back and the only way to stop it is to disable Windows update altogether.
I already have the Microsoft patch that was supposed to fix memory leaks.
I think Microsoft is trying to force Windows 10 on me.

Windows Update under Windows 7 can sometimes also consume massive amounts of CPU when it's running. I just disable it as a result and update manually when needed :/sir_synthsalot wrote:The issue came back and the only way to stop it is to disable Windows update altogether.

YOU WILL OBEY, YOU WILL SUBMIT TO WINDOWS 10. Bill Gates demands it.
Re: UltraNav Memory Leak
I believe that we are all doomed to suffer from WU services and this situation won't change. What's more you shall expect that situation will get worse with next updates. On both of my W7 machines (T601F and T400) i do suffer same pain every week after Tuesday update release. All you can do beside turning off WU service is to force the update cycle manually and wait ... and wait ... and wait ... After a hour of waiting and working on a sluggish computer you may try to reboot it. An hour should be enough to download latest updates, and the reboot cycle shall trigger installation of downloaded updates. And yes even if windows update interface seems to not responding all available updates downloads in a background.

this is the new normal. I dont expect 100% reliability with WU and Lenovo fighitng each other on power drivers and the hotkey and ultranav whaetver failing in and out of resume.
If it goes bad, just reboot, with an ssd its not a bad compromise.
