Keyboard dead after ECP-flash (SOLUTION found!)
Keyboard dead after ECP-flash (SOLUTION found!)
I got the same problem again with a T400, like with a x200 a year ago:
I flashed *.Fl1 (Bios) first, and after reboot the *.Fl2 (ECP). After reboot (Error 0271: check date and time settings) it booted to bios, showing "Embeded Controller Version: 1.01" instead of what it should be: "1.06".
As with my X200 a year ago the keyboard does not work (no keypress triggers any reaction). The X200 after noumerous unsuccessful trials mysteriously the next morning showed the right version. I have no idea, what triggered that.
Does somebody know, what to do, to get the bios recognizing the new ECP-firmware-version?

Re: Keyboard dead after ECP-flash
Try to let the bios utilty update the bios again, somehow force it? Typically one don't do the manual flash like you do with .Fl1. Doing the .Fl1 utlity manually and the flasher will do the Fl2 next, no need to do that. Many manual flashing with the .Fl1 method did not say about doing the .Fl2 next which is not necessary. I have done this before on few machines that does not have battery but this is not true reason to do the manual job like you have done unless there is reason for need for that.

Re: Keyboard dead after ECP-flash
How should i trigger the flashing, if at startup the computer always enters the bios and demands time/date correction, and i'm unable to do any keyboard input?
Re: Keyboard dead after ECP-flash
SOLUTION:
Let it run down on battery only, till it beeps twice ("low battery"), then reboot.
It seems, on low battery the EC comunicates with the bios, witch triggers recognition of the updated EC-firmware by the bios, leading to a working keyboard again.
Maybe, someone could add this to the wiki?

Very smart to try I had feeling that is not quite not serious problem. I wondered how that can happen in first place.
