dvd-rom driveproblems

This being my first post I am sure I will be asking a stupid question or leave out info that will be needed to answer the problem but here it goes anyway.

I bought a DVD-Rom drive but don't know how to make it work(i got it off ebay and no software was included) What do I need to do to make it work?
I also am purchasing a dvd burner and will more than likely need assistance with that too.

Will it read a regular CD? Need more information.

Yes it will read regular cds...Also if I put a dvd in there and go to my computer it shows the stuff on the dvd but it just won't play it

You probably need some kind of software to play them then. I personally use Media Player Classic that comes with the Kazaa Lite Codec Pack. Do a search on Google for "edskes" and the first hit will have a page of links for you to download it. Im not sure how well it would work with Windows 98.

Thanks for the help I finally got it to work but it wasn't worth the effort...The video sux..Anyway thanx again for your help....I am sure I will have some more stupid questions to ask in the future
