#1 Post by atct86 » Thu Feb 10, 2005 4:10 pm

Would a firewire USB 2.0 combo card have slower performance than then the usb 2.0 ports on my thinkpad?

It depends on the quality of the card, the usb will not likely be faster than the onboard 2.0, but if you bought a cheap card, it could very well be slower.

If the combo card were slower, it would probably not be significant enough to be noticeable.

I have the LaCie FW800, USB 2 PCMCIA card and it is not any slower on USB than the on board ports. The FW800 is significantly faster than USB, as expected.
