Through work(IBM) my father has a couple deals, the first one he showed me is significantly better than the first. But its got a FireGL T2 video gpu. Even though its based off the 9600 is drivers and bios and whatever have been specialized for Professional Apps that we would not utiliize. It would most likely be used to play Halflife and Halflife 2. Watching DVD's and whatever.
There are so many good things in this setup for that price that has me drooling: internal wifi, 1600x1200, DVDwriter, bluetooth, 60gig 7200rpm etc.
ThinkPad R50p (183222U)** $1,599.00
That's $2,000 less than today's IBM Public web price!

Other config I was shown is as listed and has a normal radeon chipset:
ThinkPad T42 (23735TU) $1,299.00
That's $760 less than today's IBM Public web price!

One person in genmay told me that he had problems in openGL with his T2 card, do any of you have experience? Is there a way to change its bios back to a 9600 and run normal catalyst drivers?
Get an R50 with FireGL T2 for gaming?
the 1st one sounds good so long as you realise it's only great for a season and good for a year. you can't upgrade the video, though IBM does have a buyback program.
if you really want to play games mostly, AlienWare & Sager are worth looking at. I wouldn't want to travel much with one of those, though
