Hiya,
I recently upgraded my T23 with another 512megs, making 768MB. The two DIMMs are:
1 x 512MB PC133 Kingston Value-RAM, CL3
1 x 256MB PC133 Hynix, CL3
However when the cover is screwed back on to the dimm slot cover, sometimes the memory goes back down to 512MB (the Hynix DIMM not being registered), after a reseat of the module it registers 768MB again.
However I did wonder if the two modules were conflicting, seems not because if I swap them over, the 512meg one where the 256 sits usually, and the 256 in the 512s slot, it then goes down to 256MB.
Do I have a faulty 512meg DIMM? I never had this issue with the 2 x 256 modules (one of which was a samsung/ibm branded one) where 256meg was lost from the module being in the rear slot (slot facing the back of the machine) where this problem is now occuring.
I recently upgraded the hard disk, would this interfere?
Vicky
ps: this pheonomena occurs at BIOS, Windows and Debian level. So it's not Windows being an butt.

Well I seem to have solved the problem.
Seems that the second slot closest to the rear doesn't pull the DIMM down very tight all the time and thus the connection is rather dodgy at the best of times.
Solved it by wedging two cut in half cotton buds either side of the affected DIMM and closing the lid down on it, pushed it in firm and since then memory reports have correctly shown 768MB.
Great!
