Volume keys not working in a T42 with Windows 98 SE

Hey, guys! So i hava the problem that i described in the title. Does anyone knows what driver i need? I used the keyboard one that is in the drivers page, but that didn't do anything!

T42 volume keys control a hardware level in the embedded controller. They have no effect on the software implementation of volume control.

What is the problem specifically? Is the sound working at all? The volume keys should affect the power-on, BIOS, and improper-key-combination beeps, as well as headphone jack audio level.

Yes, the sound works, the headphone jack too. I should try with the headphones on.
The problem is that the keys don't do anything.

I wonder if the keys themselves are physically broken. If the issue persists in a different OS or BIOS, that'd be my guess.

I Should replace the the disk and try, that would tell me if the keys work or not. I have an IDE hdd with Win 7 laying somewhere. I'll try and make an update with the results.
