T40 series Display Connector Board

hi all!!

i saw a video a while back about turning laptop monitors into computer monitors. to do that, though, i require a display connector board for the specific model. i think that all t4x's use the same screen, but incase im wrong, the one i'm using is the J74098 from the T43. i highly doubt that there is a board for this, but i figured if anyone would know, it would be you lot

ps: if you have any leads on being able to do this at all, that would be very helpful. though this probably wont go far without said Board, i dont think im willing to give up on this small little project

What you need is the brand and model of the LCD panel itself, which is written on a label on the back of the screen. So grab the T43 Hardware Maintenance Manual (check the HMM-Manuals link above, just below the site banner), and remove the screen.

Then use the LCD's model number in your web searches, or contact online sellers that specialize in LCD controller boards, like https://www.ebay.com/str/njytouch/ (note that there are many other sellers).

Download the three (T40 etc., T43, T43/p) HMM-Manuals and weep.

All 14.1" T40/T41/T42 models XGA/SXGA+ LCDs use inverter 26P8464 (= FRU number [Field Replaceable Unit])
All 15" T40/T41/T42 models XGA LCDs use inverter 91P7422
All 15" T40/T41/T42 models SXGA+/UXGA+ LCDs use inverter 93P4161

All 14.1" T43 models XGA/SXGA+ LCDs use inverter with FRU 27K9972
All 15" T43 models XGA LCDs use inverter 27K9974
All 15" T43 models SXGA+/UXGA LCDs use inverter 27K9976

Over the years other FRU numbers have been added as well.

That J74098 is not even an IBM number and some sellers use it for an inverter, some use it for what looks like a control board, some use it to sell T-shirts, no idea what is what or who is correct.
