Strange new clicking sound from T41, maybe drive?

#1 Post by nikemen » Tue Jun 15, 2004 11:27 am

So, after somewhat resolving the fan issue, fixing the wireless issues, getting everything running the way I lilke, NOW I am getting this strange rapid clicking sound coming from what appears to be the HD.

Very rapid clicking sounds like a metronome on 1000 or something. comes on, goes off. Keeps coming back though.

Anyone have any thoughts. I have run Drive diagnostics, but that didn't reveal anything.

This is a 40GB 5400 rpm.

I am having the same "problem" with my T41 (same HDD). I was worried about that sound when I heard it the first time. But it is definitely the drive. If it does nothing, it does not click. Don't forget to turn of all windows services that access the HDD.

I have that clicking too. Someone also asked about that awhile ago and they said it was normal.

Yeah, that is not the sound I am getting. I am getting a click click click click click click. all very fast, like 4-5 times a second.
